E-C Translations Of News Report Of MH370 In The Light Of Adaptation Theory

News is a major source of the latest reports and comments of the events happening at home and abroad.News translation contributes mostly to transmitting the message from one language to another so that people who do not know the language in which the message is originally revealed are able to understand the message.As a result,the quality,orientation and purpose of the translation influence people’s understanding of the events.To show how translation of news reports should be handled and that Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory could be well applied in news translation,the author adopts Adaptation Theory as the theoretical frame and analyzes the Chinese version of the reports concerning MH370 in iNews of China Daily by examining the linguistic structure(vocabulary,sentence and passage)and the communicative contexts(physical,mental and social world).It is concluded that from the perspective of Adaptation Theory,the translators,when doing translation,should pay attention to writing regulations and,more than that,should take into account the communicative contexts;they should also attach more importance to language choosing rather than story telling.
