| Objective The purpose of this study was investigating the correlation between cytokine levels and chemotherapy-induced cognitive impairment in Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients. Methods A total of 30 patients with NHL were included in this study. These patients completed cognitive assessment and cytokine levels which including IL-4 and IL-6 before chemotherapy and after 2 courses of chemotherapy. Results The subjects’ IL-4 was higher before treatment than after treatment, and IL-6 was lower before treatment than after treatment. There was a correlation between the subjects’ cognition(RM,PM,ECog-12)and the cytokine IL-6(P <0.05),but no statistical association was found between cognition and IL-4.There was a correlation between subjects’ cognition(MMSE,VFT,SDMT,CDT,RM)and KPS(P<0.01).Conclusion Cognitive function in patients with NHL is impaired in the short period of time after chemotherapy.Mainly manifested in visual space disorders, language, and memory and frontal lobe function is impaired.IL-4 may be a protective factor for cognitive function, while IL-6 may be a factor of impaired cognitive function. The management and improvement of NHL cognitive function will help increase KPS levels, thereby improving the patient’s life-of-treatment and tolerance to chemotherapy. In summary,it is recommended to continue to pay attention to CICI in NHL patients. Then NHL patients can obtain better quality of life and achieve better treatment results. |
