Abstract/Summary:
Objective: Through the questionnaire to research the related relationship of illness perception, coping style and quality of life in patients with interstitial lung disease. And hope that the results can enable medical staff to assess the patient’s awareness and response to the disease, help patients establish a positive way of perceiving and responding to the disease, and improve the patient’s quality of life. Methods: A cross-sectional study was used in this study,288 interstitial lung disease patients was recruited in a Three Level Hospital between November 2019 to November 2020.Obtaining patient’s consent, the researcher explained the purpose of the study and signed the informed consent form. The survey tools used in this study included general information questionnaire, the Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire(BIPQ),Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire(MCMQ)and ST.George’s respiratory questionnaire(SGRQ).All data were analyzed by using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 21.0 statistical software. The statistical methods including descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression,Pearson correlation, and structural equation model path analysis.Results:1.The average score of illness perception was 46.38±15.73,the items ranked from high to low according to the average, timeline, concern, consequences, identify, emotion response, personal control, understanding, treatment control. The three main causes of the disease are smoking, environmental pollution and immune injury. The influencing factors were gender, education, occupation, course of disease, cough and dyspnea. The average score of confrontation coping, avoidance coping and yield coping were 19.03±5.39,15.54±1.94,13.28±5.35.And quality of life’s average score was 45.79±19.37,the items ranked from high to low according to the average, activity limitation, symptom influence, life influence, influencing factors were course of disease, cough and dyspnea.2.The illness perception and confrontation coping negatively correlated(r=-0.755,P﹤0.01),the illness perception, and yield coping and life quality positively correlated(r=0.845,0.724,P﹤0.01).3.The path analysis results shows that the illness perception of patients with interstitial lung disease had directly positive impact on the quality of life(β=0.455,P﹤0.01),and the confrontation and yield coping style of patients with interstitial lung disease both had respectively directly negative and positive impacts on the quality of life(β=-0.170,0.442,P﹤0.05),and also had directly impact on the quality of life as intermediary variable(β=0.095,0.346,P﹤0.05).Conclusions:1.Patients with interstitial lung disease have a relatively high level of negative illness perception, and the influencing factors include gender, education, occupation, course of disease and dyspnea.2.Patients with interstitial lung disease tend to adopt avoidance and yield coping style, gender education, course of disease, cough and dyspnea are the influence factors.3.Patients with interstitial lung disease have a middle to low level quality of life, and the influencing factors include course of disease, cough and dyspnea.4.Illness perception of patients with interstitial lung disease is negatively correlated with confrontation coping, while there is a positive correlation between avoidance and yield coping and quality of life, patients with interstitial lung disease also have positive correlation with confrontation and yield coping style is a mediating variable that indirectly affects disease perception and quality of life.
