Objective: To assess the differences about the situation and related factors of vascular calcification(VC)in patients with dialysis and non-dialysis end stage renal disease(ESRD)patients. Methods: This study enrolled the end stage renal disease patients at stable status and treated in Cangzhou Central Hospital. The patients were divided into calcified group and non-calcified group according to the presence or absence of Abdominal aortic calcification(AAC).Clinical characteristics, related factors and the differences about vascular calcification between dialysis patients and non-dialysis ESRD patients were analyzed. Results: A total of 191 patients were enrolled in this study. The incidence of AAC in dialysis group was higher than that in non-dialysis patients(P<0.05).AAC score was significantly lower in non-dialysis patients than in dialysis patients(P<0.05).In dialysis patients, the risk of severe calcification was higher than that of dialysis patients(P<0.05),after comparing two groups of patients(with or without calcification)in all the patients, significant differences can be found in different aspects. These included patient’s age, dialysis, the percentage of having diabetes,creatinine,high-density lipoprotein, blood glucose, uric acid, homocysteine, serum calcium, phosphorus and calcium-phosphorus product.According to the Logistic regression analysis,it was shown that age(OR=1.083,95% CI 1.052~1.114,P<0.001)were independent risk factors for AAC.Among non-dialysis patients, there are significant differences in age,diabetes,high-density lipoprotein, blood glucose, serum calcium and phosphorus.Age(OR=1.072,95% CI 1.034~1.111,P<0.001)and blood glucose(OR=1.278,95% CI 1.045~1.563,P=0.017)were independent risk factors for AAC.Among dialysis patients, there are significant differences in age, hypertension, creatinine, uric acid.Age(OR=1.084,95% CI 1.033~1.139,P<0.001)and hypertension(OR=5.179,95% CI 0.927~28.923,P=0.036)were independent risk factors for AAC.Conclusions: Clinical characteristics and risk factors of VC were different between dialysis patients and non-dialysis end stage renal disease patients. Therefore, individua Iized and optimal management is necessary for dialysis and non-dialysis end stage renal disease patients.
