| Objective: By observing the clinical effect of Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and conventional acupuncture method on patients with Paraesthesia Pharyngis to explore the mechanism of Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method, furthermore to provide clinical reference and unique therapy for the treatment of Paraesthesia Pharyngis. Methods: 60 patients from campus or clinic with Paraesthesia Pharyngis were recruited. The patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group,30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated by Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method. The superficial puncture site was located in pharynx, abdomen and lower limbs. For pharynx, the superficial puncture site was selected from RN23 level to RN22 level, which was contained Ren channel and Stomach Channel. For abdomen, the superficial puncture site was selected from RN10 level to RN6 level, the left and right sides was limited in 2 inches, which was contained Ren channel and Stomach Channel. For lower limbs, the superficial puncture site was selected from SP6 level to LR3 level which was contained Liver Channel and Stomach Channel. For the above superficial puncture sites, they were adopted with needling-inserting with single hand, needling into dermis level with fast rotation, applying small amplitude(less than 90 degrees)and high frequency(120-160 times/min)twirling needling method.After10-20 seconds of running needles, kept the needles for 30 minutes, and kept the distance between the needles within 5-15 mm.The control group was treated with conventional acupuncture method, which was according to the Otorhinolaryngology of Traditional Chinese Medicine(2016).The acupoints were selected as RN23,LI4,PC6 and RN22.For the RN23 point, the needle was requested to insert upward to the root of the tongue,in the meantime kept instructing the patient to swallow until the globular sensation was relieved or disappears. For the other acupoints, the needles were inserted vertically. After twisting and rotating, the needles were requested to be kept for 30 minutes. The patients in both groups were treated once day,7 days as a single course of treatment. The entire treatment contained two courses of treatment. The observation indexes were Glasgow-Edinburgh Throat Scale(GETS),Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Score(TCM Syndrome Score),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD).The difference of each index between two groups before and after treatment and the change of each index in each group before and after treatment were compared. Results: 1.In the treatment group,30 cases were enrolled without interrupted. In the control group,30 cases were enrolled,1 case was interrupted, and 29 cases were completed.2.Baseline comparison: There was no significant difference in age, gender,GETS score,TCM Syndrome Score,HAMA score and HAMD score between the two groups(P>0.05).3.Before and after treatment: the GETS score,TCM Syndrome Score,HAMA score and HAMD score of the treatment group and the control group were significantly different(P<0.05).4.After the treatment, there was no significant difference between the treatment group and the control group in the GETS score(P>0.05).There were significant differences in TCM Syndrome Score,HAMA score and HAMD score between the treatment group and the control group(P<0.05).5.Safety evaluation: there was no abnormality in vital signs of all patients. There was no occurrence of adverse reactions such as needle syncope, broken needle and infection during the treatment. There were only several patients had subcutaneous hemorrhage caused by acupuncture during the treatment, and they could continue the treatment without any subsequent reactions. There were no withdrawals from the study due to adverse events. Conclusion: 1.Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and conventional acupuncture method can improve the clinical symptoms of patients with Paraesthesia Pharyngis. The effect of Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and conventional acupuncture method on this is equivalent, which is clinically feasible.2.Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and conventional acupuncture method can improve the clinical TCM symptoms of patients with Paraesthesia Pharyngis.Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method is superior to conventional acupuncture method.3.Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method and conventional acupuncture method can relieve the anxiety and depression of patients with Paraesthesia Pharyngis.Shallow Thorn Acupuncture Method is superior to conventional acupuncture method. |
