Part Ⅰ:A study of maxillary sinus septa using cone-beam CTObjective:This study aims to examine the anatomical morphology of maxillary sinus septa by using cone beam computed tomography(CBCT),and to provide the anatomical basis and operation instruction for oral implants after maxillary sinus elevation technique. Methods:CBCT image data of 222 cases with bilateral clear maxillary sinus, that the prevalence, location, and height of maxillary sinus septa were observed. The relationship relationship between the incidence of bone separation and age, gender and missing teeth was analyzed. Results:Of the 222 patients,77 patients presented septa, resulting in a 34.68% occurrence rate;in a total of 444 maxillary sinuses, septa was identified in 152 maxillary sinuses, exhibiting an occurrence rate of 34.23%.The incidence of maxillary sinus septa was significantly higher in men than that in women(41.82% vs 27.68%,P=0.027).There was no significant difference in the incidence of septa among patients with different age groups and tooth loss groups(P>0.05).The site of septa was mostly located in the middle of maxillary sinus(53.11%).The average height of septa in the right maxillary sinus was(12.48±6.98)mm,and that in the left was(14.92±7.35)mm.Conclusion:The occurrence rate of maxillary sinus septa was significantly higher in men than that in women. There was no significant correlation between age, tooth loss and the occurrence rate of maxillary sinus septa.Part Ⅱ:A study of maxillary sinus lateral wall thickness using cone-beam CT Objective:The thickness of lateral wall of maxillary sinus was observed and measured by cone beam CT(CBCT),in order to provide guidance for the operation of maxillary sinus. Methods:CBCT imaging data of maxillary sinus of 222 patients were selected. The thickness of lateral wall was measured by CBCT software, and its relationship with gender, age and left and right maxillary sinuses was analyzed. Results:Among 222 subjects(444 sides),the mean thickness of maxillary sinus lateral wall at the first premolar(P1),the second premolar(P2),the first molar(M1)and the second molar(M2)was 1.61±0.58 mm,1.68±0.66 mm,2.00±0.76 mm and 1.71±0.71 mm,respectively. The lateral wall of maxillary sinus was thickest in the first molar. The thickness of the lateral wall of the right maxillary sinus at M2 was significantly greater than that of the left.(P=0.001).The thickness of maxillary sinus lateral wall in men were significantly thicker than that in women(1.78±0.80 mm vs 1.63±0.62 mm,P=0.029).The thickness of maxillary sinus lateral wall at P1 and M1 in young group was significantly higher than that in middle age group and old group.(P1:P=0.004;M1:P=0.037).Conclusion:The mean thickness of lateral wall changes at different reference points. The maxillary sinus lateral wall is the thickest at M1.The thickness of maxillary sinus lateral wall was affected by different ages, gender, and both sides of maxillary sinus. |
