Objective:Using the three-dimensional finite element method, the stress changes of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone of the mandibular anterior teeth with Super-Bond C&B as a periodontal splint was compared when the alveolar bone is absorbed horizontally. It evaluate the treatment effect from the perspective of biomechanics and provide theoretical basis for clinical treatment. Methods:One volunteer was selected with complete dentition, healthy periodontal teeth, normal occlusion and adjacency and scanned his maxillofacial region with CBCT.A three-dimensional finite element model of the mandibular anterior dentition and periodontal ligament was established by using Mimics17.0 、 Geomagic Studio12.0 and Hypermesh13.0.On this basis, the models of Super-Bond C&B periodontal splints when the alveolar bone is absorbed 1/3 and 1/2 horizontally are set up,and the mesh is divided. The material properties and assembly are defined in ABAQUS6.14 and loaded separately axial and oblique 45° force 100 N.According to stress cloud diagram and Von Mises value, the stress change characteristics of periodontal tissue were compared before and after using Super-Bond C&B periodontal splint.Results:1.A three-dimensional finite element model including Super-Bond C&B periodontal splint, mandibular anterior dentition, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone has been established. The shape is realistic and fits the reality. After verification, the model has good geometry similarity and mechanical similarity.2.In the alveolar bone horizontal absorption model, under the same load,as the height of the alveolar bone decreases, the stress of the periodontal ligament and the alveolar bone gradually increases. When the alveolar bone absorption exceeds 1/3,the change rate of the stress value is the largest in periodontal ligament, which can increase up to 147%.When the degree of alveolar bone absorption is the same, the stress of the oblique load is greater than that of the axial direction.3.After using Super-Bond C&B periodontal splint, the maximum Von Mises stress value of periodontal ligament and alveolar bone has decreased, the color of the stress cloud diagram gradually transitions from red to blue, and the stress concentration area is from near the alveolar crest to apical area.At the same bone height, the original stress is dispersed from the incisor to the canine, and the stress of the oblique load is greater than that of the axial direction.Conclusions:1.Three-dimensional finite element method can construct Super-Bond C&B periodontal splint model and conduct biomechanical analysis;2.Super-Bond C&B as a periodontal splint can reduce the stress of the alveolar bone and periodontal ligament, effectively disperse the occlusal force, and has a good periodontal protection;3.When the level of alveolar bone absorption reaches 1/3,the stress of periodontal tissue rises sharply, that is,periodontal splint should be used for fixation to reduce the secondary trauma of periodontal tissue;when the alveolar bone absorbs 1/2,the periodontal condition of the canine was paid attention to,add abutment if necessary..
