Purpose: To investigate the MRI imaging findings of intervertebral disc andendplate in patients with lumbar disc herniation. The correlation between different segments of intervertebral discs and their corresponding endplates andage was analyzed. Methods: 80 cases of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were selected from thespinal surgery department of our hospital in half a year. The MRI manifestations of the intervertebral disc and endplate of these cases were observed.Theintervertebral disc and endplate were analyzed and scored by Pfirrmann and Pappou grading system, and the data were analyzed by SPSS software.Comparisonbetween the first lumbar vertebra to the fifth lumbar intervertebral disc endplate classification difference, comparing different segment of the endplate degenerationdegree is different, intervertebral disc of the endplate with different levels of Pfirrmann grading if there is a difference, and whether the same upper and lowerend plate rating of vertebral body, analysis of cartilage endplate grade and the intervertebral disc and whether by the correlation between age. Results: In different age groups L Ⅰ-5 there were significant differences in the classification Pappou vertebral endplates(P<0.05),and the upper and lower endplates of different vertebral bodies were significantly different. The proportion of nomal intervertebral disc in concave endplate is large.the roportion of normal intervertebral disc in fat endplate is obviously decreased, while the proportion of nomal intervertebral dise in irregular endplate the least.among the three endplate morphologies, the proportion of degenerative discs gradually increased and the proportion of nomal dises graduall decreased with the change from four-tmapped to flat to irregular. There were significant differences in the grading values of lumbar cartilage endplates between Ⅰ-Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ-Ⅴ groups of intervertebral disc Pm(P< 0.05)Lumbar cartilage endplates corresponding to grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ intervertebral disc Pappou grade P Ⅲ intervertebral disc. Conclusion: the grade Pappou cartilage endplate of different segments is different, the Pappou grade of cartilage endplate of higher segment is lower than that of upper cartilage endplate. The grade of cartilage Pappou of endplate was different in different age groups. The Pappou grade of cartilage endplate was correlated with age The more serious the disc degeneration, the higher the corresponding cartilage endplate Pappou grade.
