| Objectives:We investigated the current status of health literacy and Internet utilization level of diabetes mellitus(DM)patients in Gansu Province to explore the influencing factors and provide a theoretical basis for medical institutions to develop diabetes self-management strategies based on the Internet model and improve online health information. Methods:From June 29,2020 to July 31,2020,1 634 diabetic patients in Gansu Province were selected by multistage stratified cluster sampling method, and a questionnaire survey on diabetes health literacy and Internet utilization level was carried out.Result:1.A total of 1,563 valid questionnaires were obtained in this study, with a response rate of 95.7%.The scores of health literacy, prevention and treatment knowledge, treatment attitude and self-management behavior of DM patients in Gansu Province were[72.5(18.2)],[66.7(26.7)],[100.0(20.0)]and[57.1(35.7)]points,respectively;there was a positive correlation between knowledge and attitude scores(r_s=0.24,P(27)0.001),and knowledge and behavior scores(r_s=0.22,P(27)0.001).2.The overall awareness rate of prevention and treatment knowledge of DM patients in Gansu Province was 63.7%,and the factors affecting the level of health literacy prevention and treatment knowledge of DM patients were age, education, income, route of first diagnosis of diabetes, hyperlipidemia, stroke, fatty liver, and use of the Internet to find diabetes health information(P(27)0.05).Residence area, type of residence, income, duration of disease, family history of diabetes, route of first diagnosis of diabetes, fasting blood glucose value, fatty liver, and whether they were satisfied with their own health status were the influencing factors of treatment attitude level in DM patients(P(27)0.05).The factors affecting the level of health literacy behaviors in DM patients were marital status, education, income, disease duration, complications, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and use of the Internet to find diabetes health information(P(27)0.05).3.The proportion of DM patients who had obtained diabetes-related information in traditional channels such as the Internet and doctors in Gansu Province was 99.4%and 53.7%,respectively;fewer of the patients living alone and smoking had obtained health information in traditional channels(P(27)0.05).the network utilization rate was lower in patients with age, female sex, widowed, lower education, farmers and workers, living in rural areas, living alone, lower income, more than 4 complications,no family history of diabetes, diabetes found by routine physical examination, hypertension, coronary heart disease,no alcohol consumption,no smoking, and poor knowledge and behavior level(P(27)0.05).4.91.7% of DM patients expected to obtain diabetes-related information,of which86.6%and 72.2%expected to obtain from traditional channels and Internet channels, respectively;patients of different ages, genders, marital status, education level, occupations, living areas, disease duration, complications, stroke, knowledge level, and treatment attitude level had differences in the selection of traditional channels and Internet channels(P(27)0.05).Conclusions:1.The health literacy of DM patients in Gansu Province remains moderately low as a whole and has a positive attitude towards the prevention and treatment of diabetes, but the understanding of relevant prevention and treatment knowledge is not comprehensive and in-depth enough, and the mastery of self-management behaviors is still insufficient.2.Different characteristics of DM patients using the network to obtain diabetes health information are different, and the ability is poor.Good knowledge is a protective factor for attitude and behavior.3.DM patients had more access to relevant diabetes knowledge through traditional channels, while the ability to use the Internet to obtain diabetes health information was poor. However, the number of people in need of network channels to obtain diabetes health information was increased compared with the number of previous users. |
