Objective To explore the clinical features and in laboratory examination of children with EBV infection at different age stages, the clinical data of 170 cases hospitalized children with EBV infection were analyzed retrospectively so as to provide reference for clinical diagnose. Methods Analysis of the clinical data of 170 cases hospitalized children with EBV infection from January 2012 to January 2021 in the first Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical Collage.According to the age of the child, all patients were divided three groups, the infant and toddler period group(0-3 years old),having 54 cases, the preschool period group(4-7 years old),having 65 cases, and the school-age period group(8-14 years old),having 51 cases. The general data, clinical manifestations and laboratory examination results of children in each group were analyzed, and the characteristics were found and summarized.Results1.In the spectrum of season,74 cases(43.5%)in summer,34 cases(20.0%)in autumn,45 cases(26.5%)in spring, and 17 cases(10.0%)in winter. The onset season was dominated by spring and summer, and high in summer and low in winter. The difference in all groups was statistically significant(P > 0.05).2.In the spectrum of disease, the Infectious Mononucleosis predominates main status in children, having 65 cases(40.6%).The manifestations were more diverse in the infant and toddler period group, and they had high incidence of respiratory diseases such as bronchopneumonia and bronchitis. It also had some rare cases of parotid gland enlargement.3.In clinical manifestation, there were 25 cases of cough(46.3%)and 16 cases of rash(29.6%)in the infant and toddler period group, higher than those in the preschool period group and school-age group. The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).The lymphadenectasis in preschool period group had 39 cases(60.0%)and in the school-age group had 29 cases(56.9%),higher than those in the infant and toddler period group. The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).A total of 31 cases(47.7%)in the preschool period group and 25 cases(49.0%)in the school-age group were in line with the "triad".The incidence was higher than that in the infant group, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).In the comparison of fever degree among the three groups, the infant and toddler period group mainly had no fever and low fever(55.6%),while the preschool period group and the school-age group mainly had high fever, accounting for70.8% and 62.7%,respectively.The difference in fever degree was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.In the laboratory examination, there were 104 cases patients increased in ALT,the ALT level of the infant and toddler period group was lower than that of the other two groups. The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).The elevation of ALT in infant group was lower than that in school-age group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The correlation between the nucleic acid load of EBV and laboratory examination about AST、ALT and LDH were positively correlated with the nucleic acid load of EBV,and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Conclusion1.The morbidity of Epstein-Barr virus infections is higher in summer and lower in winter,so we should pay attention to seasonal distribution and regional differences and prevent them early.2.The Infectious Mononucleosis predominated main status in Epstein-Barr virus infection, the infant and toddler period group had high incidence of respiratory diseases. The manifestation are more diverse and stronger confusing.3.Children infected with Epstein-Barr virus have a higher incidence of cough and rash in the infant and toddler period group. Most children in infant and toddler period group have apyrexia or low fever, meanwhile majority of preschool period group and the school-age children have high fever.4.With the increase of age,the hepatic injury becomes more obvious. The copy number of Epstein-Barr virus is positive correlated with liver injury, which can be used as a reference index of disease severity.
