Clinical Significance Of Serum Periostin Level In Patients With MMP-9 In Acute Attack Of Asthma Complicated With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Objective:The expression of periosteal protein(POSTN)in serum of patients with acute attack of asthma complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).This study further analyzes the correlation between the expression of POSTN and the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9),Interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in serum of patients with acute attack of asthma complicated with T2DM.And to further explore the clinical significance of serum POSTN expression in patients with acute attack of asthma complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods:21 patients with acute attack of asthma complicated with T2DM treated in Zhangjiajie people’s Hospital from October 2019 to October 2020 were selected as the group A,20 patients with acute attack of asthma as the group B,22 patients with T2DM as the group C,and 21 healthy subjects in the health examination center of Zhangjiajie people’s Hospital as the group D.Their basic information,including age,gender,smoking,body mass index(BMI)was collected.Fasting plasma glucose(FPG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2h PG),Fasting plasma C-Peptide and Hb A1c%in the group A and the group C were collected.The concentrations of POSTN,MMP-9,IL-6 and TNF-αin serum of the four groups were detected by ELISA.The results were statistically analyzed.Results:1.Compared with the group D,the expression of POSTN in the group B was significantly increased(P<0.05).2.Compared with the group B,the group C and the group D,the expression of POSTN in the group A was significantly increased(P<0.05).3.The expression of POSTN in the group A was positively correlated with FPG(r_s=0.604,p=0.004),2h PG(r_s=0.632,p=0.002),Hb A1c%(r_s=0.494,p=0.023),and negatively correlated with fasting C peptide(r_s=-0.573,p=0.007).4.Compared with the group B,the group C and the group D,the expression of MMP-9 in the group A was significantly increased(P<0.05).5.The expression of POSTN in the group A was positively correlated with the expression of MMP-9(r_s=0.445,0.043)。6.The expression of POSTN in the group A was negatively correlated with the expression of IL-6(r_s=-0.657,p=0.001)and TNF-α(r_s=-0.503,p=0.020).Conclusion:1.The expression level of serum POSTN was increased in the group B,and the high expression of POSTN in serum may be involved in the pathogenesis of acute attack of asthma.It may be related to the severity of acute attack of asthma in acute attack.2.The expression level of serum POSTN and MMP-9 were significantly increased in the group A.POSTN may be involved in the pathogenesis of asthma complicated with T2DM by up-regulating the expression of MMP-9.
