Objective:To research the therapy of locally advanced rectal cancer during the simultaneous chemo-radiotherapy,the whole course of the using of total nutrients for nutritional therapy is intervented for patients. We analyze its effect on the nutritional status and immune function of patients, and provide a basis for clinical nutritional therapy for patients who are diagnosised with rectal cancer. Methods:From Sep 2019 to Jun 2020,32 locally advanced rectal cancer patients undergoing concurrent chemo-radiotherapy were selected from the Department of Radiotherapy in our hospital. The patients were divided into experimental group(n=14)and control group(n=18)by cohort study. The experimental group was given full-nutrient enteral nutrition during the treatment period. The X-InBody720 model human body analyzer was used to detect the changes in body weight,Body Mass Index(BMI),body muscle and body fat content of the two groups of patients before and after treatment;fasting blood tests were used to detect changes in nutritional blood indicators and lymphocyte subsets before and after treatment. We assessed the tolerance of the patients using the Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS).Results:Compared with the level before treatment, the Transferrin(TRF)level of the two groups of patients showed an increasing trend after treatment. The test group was better than the control group(P<0.05),but Ferritin(FRT)in them presented normal(P>0.05).The residual of indicators of nutrition, such as BMI,trunk muscle, body fat,Red Blood Cell(RBC),Hemoglobin(HGB),Platelet(PLT),Albumin(Alb)drop off(P>0.05),but the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant. When we compared with the level before treatment,CD45+lymphocytes,CD3+/CD45+T lymphocytes,CD3+CD8+/CD45Tc/Th lymphocytes,CD3+CD4+/CD45+Th lymphocytes,CD3-CD16+CD56+/CD45+NK cells and other immune cell indicators all declined. However, after we compared with the control group, the absolute value of CD45+lymphocytes,CD3+/CD45+T lymphocytes, and CD3+CD4+/CD45+Th cells in the test group were better than those in the control group(P<0.05),And there was no difference between CD3+CD8+/CD45Tc/Ts lymphocytes,Th/Tc ratio,CD3-CD16+CD56+/CD45+NK cells and other indicators(P>0.05).At the end of the fifth week of the radio-chemotherapy,the KPS of the experimental group was better than the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion:Studies have shown that oral enteral nutrition therapy with total nutrients during chemo-radiotherapy for patients with locally advanced rectal cancer may improve their nutritional status and immune functions.
