On English Translation Of Measurement Unit In Jingui Yaolue From The Perspective Of Hermeneutic Translation Theory

Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has played a unique role in the COVID-19 epidemics,and its internationalization has become a mainstream trend.Due to the differences in theoretical system and cultural knowledge background,the foreign exchange and dissemination of TCM still face many difficulties and challenges.Traditional Chinese medicine books have played an important role in accelerating the internationalization of Chinese traditional Chinese medicine.It is necessary to translate TCM books into English to spread TCM to the world.The synopsis has the reputation for "the father of the sense",the book a total of 262,formulae unit of measurement is an important part in the prescriptions,ancient units appear,the development has a history of five thousand years,has experienced the changes of dynasties,as an important part in the formula can not be missing,accurate translation of the medicine with inheritance is crucial.This study,from the perspective of hermeneutic translation theory,explores its feasibility in the study of English translation of TCM classics,and applies it to the strategies and methods of guiding the translation of measurement units into English.Hermeneutic translation theory has been proved by the research results of many scholars in recent years,which has enriched and developed translation theory to some extent.This study from the encyclopedia of the measuring unit of the formulas for synopsis will be divided into the standard unit of weights and measures,non-standard unit of weights and measures and three types of special units,combined with Ruan Jiyuan,Luo Xiwen,Li Zhaoguo three translation,contrastive analysis the similarities and differences between the three translation strategies in the translation,then sum up the corresponding translation strategies.The research shows that Luo’s version and Li’s version basically adopted transliteration and literal translation methods,which largely retained the characteristics of measurement units in traditional Chinese medicine classics.Ruan’s version flexibly used a variety of English translation methods,such as free translation,transliteration plus annotation,literal translation plus annotation,and tried to accurately convey the meaning of the unit of measurement in the formula.Hermeneutic translation theory has a guiding role in the English translation of measurement units of the Golden Synopsis,the translator can skillfully use the compensatory method of Steiner’s four steps to perfect the process of English translation of measurement units by adopting literal translation,transliteration,annotation of transliteration,free translation,etc.
