This thesis summarizes the research during the period of master’s degree,which is divided into two parts.The study of the chemical constituents of the aerial part of Ternstroemia gymnanthera and their analgesic activities were described in the first part,and the research progress of the chemical constituents and pharmacological effects of T.gymnanthera was concluded in the second part.Objective: To study the analgesic chemical constituents from the aerial parts of T.gymnanthera.Methods: The compounds were isolated and purified by various materials column chromatography,such as silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,HPLC,MCI,etc.,and the structures of the compounds were elucidated on the basis of modern spectral data analysis techniques and physicochemical properties.The analgesic activity of some compounds from the aerial part of T.gymnanthera was tested.Results: Twenty-one compounds were isolated from the 95% ethanol extract of the plant and identified as ursolic acid(1),3-epiursolic acid(2),3β,13β-dihydroxy-urs-11-en-28-oic acid-13-lactone(3),ursonic acid(4),betulinic acid(5),α-spinasterol(6),daucosterol(7),α-spinasteryl-β-D-glucopyranoside(8),isoquercitrin(9),(-)-epi-cetechin(10),6-methoxyumbelliferone(11),4-hydroxy-3-(methoxycarbonyl)benzoic acid(12),3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid(13),3,4-dihydroxypheny-laceticacid(14),3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde(15),3,4-di hydroxy-pheny-lacetic acid methyl ester(16),methyl-2,4-dihydroxy-3,6-dimethyl-benzoate(17),butyl-2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)acetate(18),blapsin A(19),bis(2-ethylhexyl)benzene-1,2-dicar-boxylate(20),and terngymnoside D(21).56.1% inhibition rate of compound 3 in acetic acid writhing test of mice at the dose of 50 mg/kg was observed.The content of terngymnoside A,terngymnoside D,ternstroside A and ternstroside D in the aerial part of T.gymnanthera was determined as 0.052%,0.166%,0.221% and 0.212%.Conclusion: Compounds 2-4,13,and 18-21 were firstly otained from genus Ternstroemia,and compounds 9 and 10 were isolated from T.gymnanthera for the first time.Compound 3 showed significant analgesic activity in acetic acid writhing test in mice.
