| Objective To observe the clinical curative effect and advantages of empirical massage of "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" for the treatment of 1-3 year-old children with refractory diarrhea, with the aim to provide new manipulation method for the treatment of refractory diarrhea in children. Methods The present study was a randomized controlled clinical study with 212 refractory diarrhea children meeting the inclusion criteria as the subjects of study, including 106 cases of spleen-deficiency type and 106 cases of spleen-kidney-yang-deficiency type.By using random number generator of the SPSS software, enrolled children were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group, with 106 cases in each group(53 cases of spleen-deficiency type and 53 cases of spleen-kidney-yang-deficiency type respectively).Children in the experimental group were treated with "abdominal vibration and massage" combined with conventional massage;while those in the control group received conventional massage alone.Children in both the experimental group and control group were treated for 5 consecutive days(once a day).Furthermore, the primary and secondary symptom scores of TCM syndromes were observed and compared in the experimental group and the control group before and after treatment.SPSS software was used for statistical analysis of relevant results to evaluate the corresponding curative effect.Results1.Comparison of the primary symptom score of TCM syndromes:Intra-group comparison showed statistical difference in the primary symptom score of TCM syndromes after treatment than that before treatment in both the experimental group and the control group(P<0.05),indicating that "abdominal vibration and massage" and conventional massage were both effective in improving the total score of primary symptoms. After treatment, there was statistical significance in inter-group comparison of the primary symptom scores between the experimental group and the control group(P<0.05);among them, the scores of the frequency of defecation, microscopic examination of stool, stool property and stool color were significantly lower in the experimental group than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).These results suggested that "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" combined with conventional massage was superior to conventional massage alone in improving the above symptoms. In addition, within the experimental group, except for the course of disease(P>0.05),there were statistical differences in the remaining primary symptom scores in both the spleen-deficiency type group and the spleen-kidney-yang-deficiency type group after.treatment when compared with those before treatment(all P<0.05).2.Comparison of secondary symptom scores of TCM syndromes:According to the intra-group comparison, statistical difference was found in the secondary symptom score of TCM syndromes after treatment when compared with that before treatment in both the experimental group and the control group(P<0.05),suggesting that "abdominal vibration and massage" and conventional massage were both effective in improving the total score of secondary symptoms and all secondary symptoms.Furthermore,inter-group comparison of the secondary symptom scores revealed a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group after treatment(P<0.05).It indicated that "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" combined with conventional massage was better than conventional massage alone in improving the total score of secondary symptoms.Meanwhile, for the comparison of secondary symptom scores in the spleen-deficiency type group and the spleen-kidney-yang-deficiency type group within the experimental group, there were statistically significant differences in the scores of complexion, tongue coating,as well as appetite and food intake(all P<0.05);while no significant difference was detected in the mental score of children with spleen-deficiency type and the spleen-kidney-yang-deficiency type(P>0.05).The results suggested that "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" combined with conventional massage had an obvious advantage in improving the complexion, tongue coating, appetite and food intake of children with spleen-deficiency syndrome than that of children with spleen-kidney-yang-deficiency syndrome.3.Comparison of total scores of TCM syndromes:The experimental group and the control groupcomparison showed the presence of statistically significant difference in the total scores after treatment when compared with that before treatment in both the experimental group and the control group(P<0.05),supporting that "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" and conventional massage were both effective in improving the total score of TCM symptoms.Furthermore,a statistically significant difference was observed in the inter-group comparison of total scores of TCM syndromes between the experimental group and the control group after treatment(P<0.05).It suggested that "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" combined with conventional massage exhibited a better effect than conventional massage alone in improving the total score of TCM symptoms.6.Safety analysis:No adverse reactions occurred in the two groups during the treatment period, indicating that "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" conventional massage has good safety.7.Compliance Analysis:This study included 212 children, the final effective cases were 212 cases, including 106 cases in the test group and 106 cases in the control group, compliance was 100%,indicating good compliance. Conclusion the The massage named "Vibrating and Rubbing on the Abdominal" method based on syndrome differentiation plus syndrome differentiation in the treatment of children with deficiency of qi and blood constipation has a significant clinical effect. The total effective rate of TCM syndromes and the total score of primary and secondary diseases are better than the control group, with no adverse reactions. |
