Objective To quantitate the height and width of the alveolar maxillary junction by Cone beam computer tomography(CBCT)combined with SimPlant software, and to measure the length and average angle of the alveolar maxillary strutum relative to the Frankfort plane,so as to provide important reference value for clinical pterygomaxillary implantation. Methods A total of 104 patients(208sides)who underwent conical CT(CBCT)examination in the Department of Stomatology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University from March 2018 to May 2019 were selected. The data are imported into the SimPlant software, and the measurement is carried out with the tools in the SimPlant software.SPSS software was used to analyze and calculate the mean value and standard deviation. Results CT measurements showed that the mean height of the pterygomaxillary joint was 14.72mm and the minimum was 8.26mm.The mean width is 9.12mm and the minimum is 4.84mm.The mean and minimum distance between the maxillary tuberosity point(MT)and the most lateral lowest point of the pterygomaxillary fissure(PF)were 19.33mm and 8.73 mm,respectively. The mean and minimum distance between the alveolar crest point passing the extended line of the infrazygomatic crest and the PF were 25.27mm and 13.78mm,respectively.Conclusion The measurements of the anatomic structure of the pterygomaxillary region vary significantly at specific locations. Therefore,in the case of pterygomaxillary implant implantation,a thorough understanding of the anatomy of each patient is required, and personalized preoperative radiological evaluation and careful and adequate consideration are required.
