| Objective: To study and analyze the characteristics of soft and hard tissues, airways, and adenoid in children with Class Ⅱ malocclusion of oral respiration during malformation after being treated with customized functional appliances, and to explore the effects of oral breath on children and customized functional appliances The effect of the correction will provide a reference for future research and clinical correction. Methods: Forty children of class Ⅱ malocclusion with mouth breathing during the replacement period were selected, twenty in the study group and twenty in the control group. The study group was treated with a custom-made functional appliance, while the control group was followed up regularly. The study group and the control group took lateral cephalometric X-ray before and after the 6-month treatment or 6-month observation period. We measured the data of soft and hard tissues, upper airways, and adenoids, and then, performed statistical analysis.P <0.05 showed a statistically significant difference.Results:(1)Hard tissue measurement results After treatment,in the study group, the SNA angle,ANB angle, jaw convex angle(NA-PA °),upper central incisor angle(U1-SN °),and upper central incisor-NA plane angle(U1-NA °)were significantly decreased, vertical distance of the lower incisor-NA plane(L1-NB mm)were significantly increased(P <0.05).The control group was observed the posterior mandibular plane angle(FH-MP °),the upper central incisor angle(U1-SN °),the upper central incisor-NA plane angle(U1-NA °),and the verticality of the upper central incisor-NA plane, the distance(U1-NA mm)were significantly increased(P <0.05).The results of the comparison between the two groups before and after the difference show that the ANB angle, jaw convexity(NA-PA °),superior incisor angle(U1-SN °),superior incisor-NA plane angle(U1-NA °),upper and lower central incisor angles(U1-L1 °)were statistically significant(P <0.05).(2)Soft tissue measurement results There were no significant changes in the values of the experimental group after treatment, and the differences were not statistically significant(P > 0.05).The comparison of the difference between the two groups before and after the group showed that the differences in the ratio of the upper lip length(ULL%)and the lower lip protrusion point to the E line(LL-EP mm)were statistically significant(P <0.05).(3)Upper airway measurement results After treatment, the nasopharyngeal space(PNS-UPW),velopharyngeal space(U-MPW),and glossopharyngeal space(TB-TPPW)increased after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).In the control group, the nasopharyngeal space(PNS-UPW)increased after observation, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).The difference in the velopharyngeal space(U-MPW)between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.05).(4)Adenoid measurement results The adenoid ratio(A/ N)statistically increased after treatment in the study group(P <0.05).There was no significant difference in the adenoid ratio(A / N)in the control group before and after observation(P > 0.05).The difference in adenoid ratio(A / N)change between the two groups was statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusions: The mandibular bone of the child with mouth breathing rotates backwards and downwards, the vertical bony facial pattern increases, the profile is longer, and the upper anterior teeth are more inclined.Customized functional appliances can effectively improve the bone shape of children with mouth breathing and the shape tends to be coordinated, improve airway stenosis, and reduce adenoid volume. |
