| Background:There are more probabilities of burn patients who may combine with hand burned,especially large-area burned patients.What’s more,because of the unique anatomy that the skin of the back of the hand is very thin and with a thinner fat layer,so that the extensor tendon and the articular capsule will be exposed easier than the other area of the body.That will contribute to the hand function loss,partly or fully.A scale which is proper,closing to daily live and work is necessary.We proposed the SHE（Swanson Hand Evaluation）to evaluate the burned hand function so that we could have a more specific and professional acknowledge of the burned hand.Then we could make a proper reconstruction timetable to the patients.Meanwhile,we evaluate the outcome of another three scales called ROM（total active motion）,MHQ（Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire）and JTHFT（The JTHFT-Taylor Hand Function Test）which are used to estimate the hand function,too.We analysis the relevance between the SHE and the ROM,MHQ and JTHFT.It is showed that there is high relevance between them.It also showed that comparing to the ROM,the SHE has a higher relevance with the MHQ and the JTHFT.Methods:We retrospect the 17 patients who were burned and combined with hand function loss between the September 2019 to the January 2022.we evaluate the outcome of the SHE and another three scales called ROM（total active motion）,MHQ（Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire）and JTHFT（The JTHFT-Taylor Hand Function Test）which are used to estimate the hand function,too.Then we record the grade at three times so that we could compare the scores of SHE and ROM,MHQ and JTHFT.Through the comparing,we could analysis the relevance between the SHE and another three scales.So that we will obtain the reliability of the SHE.Results:It is showed that there is high relevance between the SHE and the ROM,MHQ and JTHFT.It also showed that comparing to the ROM,the SHE has a higher relevance with the MHQ and the JTHFT.Conclusions:SHE is a reliable and practical hand assessment standard,and it can also guide the physical treatment and occupation treatment.SHE will be a good instrument for burn surgeon who face the dilemma about hand function impairment. |
