| Objective: Compare serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)levels in dermatomyositis(DM)/polymyositis(PM)patients and the control group, and analyze the correlation between VEGF and muscle pathology, tumor marker laboratory indicators and clinical manifestations in DM/PM patients.Explore the significance of serum VEGF levels in DM/PM patients. Methods:Collected 52 DM/PM patients who attended the Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from July 2019 to December 2020 and met the IIM classification diagnostic criteria recommended by the International Myopathy Collaboration Group in 2004.Serum from 20 healthy people during the same times was selected as the control group. The double-antibody sandwich(ELISA)method detects the expression level of VEGF in serum,At the same time, the clinical manifestations, laboratory indicators and skeletal muscle pathology of the DM/PM group were collected, and the correlation between them and the increase of serum VEGF levels was analyzed. The DM/PM components were divided into DM and PM subgroups, and the correlation between serum VEGF levels and muscle enzymes in the two subgroups was analyzed. Results: 1.Serum VEGF levels was significantly higher in DM/PM group versus controls(P<0.001);2.Serum creatine kinase(CK)levels of PM patients were higher than that in DM patients(Z=-2.663,P=0.008).Serum myoglobin(MYO)levels of PM patients was higher than that in DM patients(Z=-3.170,P=0.002);3.The factor of increase of serum VEGF levels in DM/PM patients: chi-square test showed the increase of erythrocyte sedimentation Rate(ESR),the increase of C-reactive protein(CRP),Interstitial lung disease(ILD)and skeletal muscle angiopathies had a P<0.05,showing a statistical difference, which was closely related to the DM/PM patients with the increase of serum VEGF levels;Logistic regression analysis showed that the increase of ESR,the increase of CRP,ILD and skeletal muscle angiopathies P<0.05,showing statistical differences, which were independent related factors of DM/PM patients with increase of serum VEGF levels.4.Serum VEGF levels are positively associated with CK in PM patients(R=0.531,P=0.028);Serum creatine kinase MB(CKMB)levels are positively associated with VEGF in PM patients(R=0.556,P=0.020);Serum MYO levels are positively associated with VEGF in PM patients(R=0.516,P=0.033).Conclusion:1.ESR elevation,CRP elevation,ILD and skeletal muscle angiopathies were independent related factors of increased serum VEGF levels in DM/PM patients. It suggests that serum VEGF levels is expected to be a serum marker for DM/PM disease evaluation.2.Serum VEGF levels in PM patients may reflect the severity of skeletal muscle injury in patients. |
