| The outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 was a public health emergency of global concern,which not only endangers people’s lives and health,but also affects the world’s political and economic pattern to a certain extent.As a topic of global concern,the COVID-19 has naturally become a hot topic closely followed by the Chinese media.Chinese news media have reported and interpreted the COVID-19 in various ways,conveying a series of important information to the audience,including the current situation of the COVID-19,prevention and control of the COVID-19,and the economy under the COVID-19.During the global pandemic of COVID-19,Global Times,an international communication media,actively set relevant agendas and reported and interpreted the facts of COVID-19,which played a positive role in guiding public opinion,enhancing China’s national image and fighting for the right to speak in international affairs.The study selects 800 news reports related coronavirus as samples on Global Times from January 1,2020 to November 30,2020,and takes frame theory as the horizon,combining Kuo-jen Tsang’s three level theory to analyzes the characteristics of Global Times’ news selection,production process and manuscript construction on the COVID-19 report from the aspects of report quantity,report length,report theme,report layout,report genre,manuscript source,news source,report structure and micro level,and puts forward some thoughts of my own.In this study,it is believed that the information sources of Global Times are relatively authoritative and diversified in the report of COVID-19.The theme of the report is centered on the current situation and prevention and control of COVID-19.The articles are mainly medium length and distributed in all pages of the newspaper.They tend to be objective and can report COVID-19 from a rational perspective with a relatively fixed reporting structure.The thematic framework focuses on the current situation of the coronavirus,prevention and control of the coronavirus,the epidemic and the economy,and the response of specific opinions and viewpoints. |
