As the growing demand for operation with higher safety, effectiveness, and minimally invasiveness, surgical instruments with higher accuracy and better performance are in great need.A laser hemostatic knife based on fiber optic light source is proposed to meet the requirement of vascular coagulation and cutting under minimally invasive surgery.First of all,the fiber light source is transformed to strip shape by a uniform optical system.Secondly,a piece of medical metal is inserted between the exit surface of strip light source and the targeted tissue where the metal can absorb the laser energy and convert it to heat evenly. Finally,a finite element model of light-heat interaction model is established, and it is verified by a prototype.System parameters such as transmittance of the light homogenization system, reflection rate of reflector, metal absorption rate, and geometric parameters are also discussed to optimize the utilization rate and distribution uniformityThe proposed hemostatic knife in this paper provides a new solution to control temperature distribution of scalpel blades, and also supports the working mode of ‘ laser-intermediate media-tissue ’ both in theory and application.
