Objective: To explore the clinical effect of external application of traditional Chinese medicine plaster combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Methods: Sixty patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCF)were randomly divided into two groups: the treatment group and the control group.A total of 30 patients in the treatment group underwent percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP).The traditional Chinese medicine plaster was used to externally apply the pain points 48 hours after surgery.A total of 30 patients in the control group underwent PVP treatment. The patient was treated with a self-adhesive external application of the pain points at 48 hours after surgery.Except for the external application of traditional Chinese medicine plaster, the other treatments are the same as the treatment group. All patients were sterilized at the puncture site during treatment to avoid infection.External application is a course of treatment every 5 days, followed by 3 courses of treatment. The VAS pain score,ODI index score and total therapeutic effect were used as clinical observation indicators before treatment(pre-PVP),on the 5th day after topical application and on the 15 th day after topical application. The clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups by analysis and statistics. Results: In this study,60 patients were treated according to the test requirements.Clinical observations:(1)Compared with the VAS pain score and ODI index scores before and after treatment, the scores of the two groups were significantly decreased, which was statistically significant(P<0.05).Significant pain relief and improvement in spinal function were obtained in both groups.(2)Comparison between groups showed thatthe improvement of VAS score in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, which was statistically significant(P<0.05).The treatment group was more effective in relieving pain. The improvement of ODI score in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P<0.05).The improvement of spinal function in the treatment group was better than that in the control group. The total effective rate of the treatment group(93.33%)was significantly higher than that of the control group(total effective rate 86.67%)(P<0.05).The total effect of the treatment group was better than that of the control group. Conclusion: The application of traditional Chinese medicine plaster external application combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures can more effectively alleviate the pain symptoms of patients and improve the spine function of patients. The curative effect is definite and worthy of clinical promotion.
