| Objectives: In this study,we aimed to investigate the value of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)in evaluating the severity and clinical prognosis of patients with bee stings. Methods: In this study,174 patients with bee stings that applied to the emergency department of the affiliated hospital of the North Sichuan Medical College between January 2015 and October 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. The general information and laboratory data of patients admitted to the hospital were recorded.According to the severity, they were divided into mild poisoning group, moderate poisoning group, severe poisoning group,MODS group and non-MODS group. In the same period,60 healthy people were selected as the normal control group.NLR values were calculated from peripheral blood neutrophil counts and lymphocyte counts at admission, and differences between groups were compared.Pearson correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between NLR and white blood cell(WBC)in the bee stings group. The receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC curve)was used to evaluate the value of NLR values at admission to the evaluation of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS)in patients with bee stings.Results:(1)The NLR value of patients with bee stings group was significantly higher than that of the normal control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);NLR value increased gradually with the increase of poisoning degree;the NLR was significantly higher in moderate poisoning group than in mild poisoning group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the NLR was significantly higher in the severe moderate group than in the mild and moderate poisoning groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the NLR value of the MODS group was significantly higher than that of the non-MODS group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)Pearson correlation analysis between NLR and WBC in the bee stings group,r=0.297.(3)The NLR value at admission was 21.10 for the diagnosis of MODS in patients with bee stings, with a sensitivity of 0.78 and a specificity of 0.78.Conclusion: The NLR value at admission has a certain reference value for the assessment of the severity of bee stings, which can be used to predict the risk of MODS. |
