The developed animal husbandry is an important symbol of modern agriculture.Among the factors affecting animal husbandry,the contribution of genetic & breeding in scientific and technology plays the most important role,that is,variety is the key factor to improve the production level of animal husbandry.As integral part of the variety structure,pig strain is an important basis to improve the output,quality and market competitiveness of animal products.The development of specialized pig strain is the primary task to achieve highquality development of animal husbandry.Based on the native pig resources of Dingyuan which is a group of Huai pig in China,meat quality strain(MQS)and litter size strain(LSS)of Huai pig were bred by means of the method of Huai pig lineage with genetic marker-assisted selection.The results showed that:1.the water loss rate(WLR)of the longissimus muscle from first to fourth generations in MQS were 16.29%,14.59%,11.54% and 10.32%,respectively,and the WLR decreased significantly(P < 0.05).The average score of marbling(ASM)of 4 generations were 3.13,3.09,3.33 and 3.69,respectively,and the ASM increased significantly(P < 0.05),The content of intramuscular fat(IMF)in 4 generations were 3.50%,3.70%,4.28% and 4.47%,respectively,and the content of IMF increased significantly(P < 0.05).The meat color scores(MCS)from first to fourth generation in MQS were 3.33,3.53,3.50 and 3.45,respectively,and MCSs didn’t differ among generations(P > 0.05).The changes of crude protein,crude ash,calcium and phosphorus contents in longissimus muscle among generations were not significant(P > 0.05).2.Compared the first generation with the second generation in LSS,the dam reproductive index(DRI)increased by 0.55(P < 0.05),and the boar reproductive index(BRI)increased by 10.01(P < 0.05).For the first and second generations,the total litter size of the third litter were 12.96 and 13.44,respectively,and the number born alive per litter were12.31 and 12.86 with significant difference between the generations(P < 0.05).
