Evaluation Of Maize Varieties Suitable For Mechanical Grain Harvest In Hilly And Dry Farming Areas Of Xing’an League Of Inner Mongolia And Analysis Of Influencing Factors

In the northern region of China,it takes limited time from maturity to harvest of maize.In the development of maize industry,with the poor effect of machine harvest as the prominent problem,the unsuitable harvesting methods reduce the quality of maize,and further the income.According to the climate characteristics and planting demand in Xing’an League of Inner Mongolia,the agronomic properties and physiological indexes of the selected varieties were comprehensively evaluated.Finally,the suitable maize varieties for machine harvest were selected,and reasonable planting suggestions were put forward for local production practice in Xing’an League.The samples of 18 maize varieties suitable for machine harvest selected in 2017 and 2018 with all indexes approximate to the selection standard were selected.The evaluation sites were located in Ulanhot City and Julihen Town,Keyouqianqi,Inner Mongolia.The silking stage,yield,grain moisture at harvest,agronomic properties,lodging resistance,disease resistance and insect resistance were analyzed to identify the varieties suitable for mechanical grain harvest.The results are as follows:1.The silking stage of Simon 208 and Simon 618 were longer.The silking stage of Fucheng99 was the shortest,and the silking stage of Fengken139 and R156,A2636,S1602 and Zhongxing R571 was shorter.2.The maize yield was not significantly correlated with the silking stage,but the silking stage of the same variety in Julihen town,Keyouqianqi was longer than that in Ulanhot City.Among the 18 varieties,A2636 had the best yield performance,high yield and stability,and shorter silking stage.Jinkeyu 3306 and Lihe 3,which had higher mechanical yield,were better in high yield and stability.3.The variety with the lowest grain moisture at harvest was Fucheng 99,which had a great potential for mechanized harvesting,followed by Fa’erli 1439 and Fengken 139.The yield of A2356 was the highest among the varieties with lower grain moisture at harvest.There was a significantly positive correlation between grain moisture and growth period with insignificant effect.It was mainly determined by varieties,and its relationship with yield was not affected by planting location also with insignificant relationship with yield.4.The plant heights of Jinkeyu3308 and Xianyu335 were higher than those of Xinxin1 and Fucheng99.The stem diameter of maize varieties was affected by different planting locations.At harvest,grain moisture was significantly positively correlated with plant height,ear position and total leaves,but was not significantly correlated with stem diameter.Therefore,when the yield is similar,the varieties with lower plant height,ear position and fewer total leaves were more suitable for machine grain harvest.5.The incidence of maize borer of the 18 maize varieties was not high,among which Xianyu335,Lihe1,Jinkeyu3308,Lihe3 and R5156 were susceptible to maize leaf blight.To sum up,among the 18 maize samples,A2636 has the highest yield and relatively less moisture,which is more suitable for the climate of Xing’an League with a certain potential for machine grain harvest,so it can be popularized.Fucheng99,Fa’erli 1439 and Fengken139 are also suitable for machine grain harvest.
