At present,the pet product industry of China has entered rapid development phase.Till 2017,the pet industry market of China has reached 134 billion Yuan per year.It is estimated that the market will reach 188.5 billion Yuan by 2020,and then will maintain an average annual growth rate of 30% during 2010-2020.CG Company is the largest enterprise of grain,oil,frozen food and animal food in the United States.In the business of China market,the growth of other businesses has slowed down,while the business scale of pet food has been increased continuously.The revenue of pet food has increased at an average annual rate of about 30% in the past five years.In the classification of pet food consumer complaints and quality defects,product mold is always the most frequent and most serious problem.If a pet eats moldy food,it will produce gastrointestinal tract discomfort at least.More seriously,it will cause cancer or reproductive malformations in next generation.Therefore,pet food industry enterprises are committed to eliminate mold.In the analysis of mold,it is found that the high moisture content of the product is directly related to the mold of the product.Microorganisms can use free water in products as carriers and proliferate in large quantities,and under certain temperature and humidity conditions,resulting in mold of products.Therefore,the key method to prevent mold is to control the moisture content within the target value and reduce the moisture variation in the process.This thesis aims to solve the quality problem of pet food product mold in CG company.Based on the original quality management system,CG company has further carried out six sigma management,which is the background of this thesis.Using the Six Sigma DMAIC process,SIPOC chart,brainstorming method,FMEA,full factor experimental design,response surface design and control chart and other tools,this thesis focuses on the improvement of product moisture content variation in pet food production line of CG company,so as to reduce the risk of product mould and reduce customer complaints and related quality loss costs and improve the quality improvement culture of the enterprise.This thesis results show that the moisture variation of pet food has been reduced,customer complaint quantity decreased,and cost of customer complaint decreased significantly.Furthermore,this thesis provides reference for production process control and water variation reduction to enterprises in the same or similar industry.
