Stellera chamaejasme L.is a poisonous plant distributed widely on the grassland,and locusts are one of the most harmful insects on the grassland.In this paper,three species of locusts(Oedaleus decorus asiaticus(Bey-Bienko),Pararcyptera microptera meridionalis(Ikonnikov),and Myrmeleotettix Palpalis(Zubowsky))were selected to studied.The toxicity of petroleum ether extracts from the root of S.chamaejasme to three species of locusts were determined.The trend behavior of three species of locusts to S.chamaejasme were measured.At the same time,the effects of extracts on biochemical mechanism of three species of locusts were studied.The main results are as follows:(1)The LC50of petroleum ether extracts of S.chamaejasme root to larvae of 3instar and adult of O.decorus asiaticus,adult of P.microptera meridionalis,adult of M.Palpalisare were 8 114.1 mg/L,8 259.9 mg/L,7 692.1 mg/L and 7 166.1 mg/L,respectively.The median antifeedant concentration of the non-selective anti-feeding effect and selective anti-feeding effect of the extracts on adult O.decorus asiaticus were 433.97 mg/L and 460.59 mg/L for 48 h,respectively.(2)Y-olfactometer was used to test the selection of three species of locusts to petroleum ether extracts of S.chamaejasme.Compared with air,three species of locusts were avoided to the petroleum ether extracts of different parts of S.chamaejasme.Among three parts of S.chamaejasme,there were more significant repellent effect of the extracts of the overground parts and roots to three species of locusts than that of flowers..(3)Two kinds of ATPase activities of three species of locusts in vitro could be inhibited by the petroleum ether extracts of S.chamaejasme root.The inhibition rate increased with increasing of the extract concentrations,and the inhibition rate on Na+-K+-ATPase was higher than that of Ca2+-Mg2+-ATPase.ACh E activies of three species of locusts in vitro were inhibited by the extracts,and the inhibition rate was less than 30%at the maximum concentration.The total esterase activites of three species of locusts in vitro were inhibited,and the inhibition rate to M.Palpalis was33.55%at the maximum concentration.(4)The specific activities of ATPase,ACh E and total esterase were inhibited to some extent,however,the specific activities of GSTs and cytochrome P450were induced when three species of locusts were treated with the petroleum ether extracts of S.chamaejasme root for 48 h.
