Phyxia scabiei,also known as mushroom maggot and ginger maggot,mainly damage many edible mushrooms and tuber or bulb of many vegetables and especially is an important insect pest destroying edible mushrooms and stored ginger in China.The main biological and ecological characters of the pest feeding on Coprinus comatus,Pleurotus ostreatus,Pleurotus eryngii,Agaricus bisporus,Asparagus officinalis and Zingiber officinale were studied by using TWOSEX-MSChart software and the effects of different diets on the growth,development and reproduction of Phyxia scabiei were clarified.All the research can provided scientific theoretical bases for the monitoring,prediction and control of the pest.At a constant 25℃in the lab,the Phyxia scabiei larvae in colony were fed with 6species of diets,Coprinus comatus,Pleurotus ostreatus,Pleurotus eryngii,Agaricus bisporus,Asparagus officinalis and Zingiber officinale,in plastic culture dishes and the developmental durations of each stage/instar of Phyxia scabiei was determined and the mortality of each stage/instar and the fecundities were recorded.Base on the data recorded,the age-stage twe-sex life table of Phyxia scabiei were established.Intrinsic rates of increase(r)of the Phyxia scabiei fed on Coprinus comatus,Pleurotus ostreatus,Pleurotus eryngii,Agaricus bisporus,Asparagus officinalis and Zingiber officinale were 0.2048 d-1,0.2174 d-1,0.1803 d-1,0.1932 d-1,0.1746 d-1and 0.1517 d-1,respectively,the lowest on Zingiber officinale;net reproductive rate(R0)were 42.18/individual,40.80/individual,35.83/individual,34.34/individual,34.72/individual and 23.32/individual,respectively,also the lowest on Zingiber officinale;the finite rates of increase(λ)were 1.2273 d-1,1.2429 d-1,1.1976 d-1,1.1908 d-1,1.2127 d-1and 1.1638 d-1,respectively,also the lowest on Zingiber officinale.The mean generation time(T)was 18.25 d,17.05 d,19.82 d,20.22 d,18.36 d and20.70 d,respectively,the longest on Zingiber officinale;The total developmental durations of adults was 18.70 d,18.42 d,20.37 d,19.70 d,21.10 d and 21.70 d.Based on the biological and ecological data,the population growth dynamics of Phyxia scabiei on 6 kinds of diets in the next 60 d were simulated and predicted using TIMING-MSChart software,the population growth rate on Zingiber officinale was slower than that on the other 5 kinds of diets,and the population size on Zingiber officinale was also lower than on the other 5 kinds of diets.All the result showed that the fitness of Phyxia scabiei fed on Zingiber officinale was lower than other diets and Zingiber officinale is not the suitable host for the growth,development and reproduction.Among 4 species of mushrooms,the fitness of Coprinus comatus,Pleurotus ostreatus,Pleurotus eryngii was higher than that on Agaricus bisporus. |
