Abstract/Summary:
Soil erosion in the Yellow River Basin is a continuing concern.Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the control of soil erosion has achieved remarkable results, specifically manifested in the construction of infrastructure related to soil and water conservation, the control of soil erosion on slopes, and the reduction of yellow sediment. However, the tasks of water and soil resource protection and soil erosion prevention are still arduous. How to consolidate the existing soil and water conservation effects and prevent or slow down new soil erosion is a realistic question that is worthy of discussion and urgently needs an answer. This paper takes the Shanxi section of the Yellow River as the research object, and uses the cumulative control area of soil erosion in 19 counties in 4 cities along the Yellow River in Shanxi Province from 2008 to 2018 as the basic data. The Mann-Kendall trend test method is used to analyze the control status of soil erosion in the Shanxi section of the Yellow River.Construct an index system that affects soil erosion management from three primary indicators of comprehensive management measures, social economy, and ecological environment, and 11 secondary indicators;use the gray correlation model embedded with entropy weight to analyze the main drivers of soil erosion management in the Shanxi section of the Yellow River Factors,on this basis, analyze the existing problems of soil erosion control, and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)Dynamic analysis of soil erosion control in the Shanxi section of the Yellow River: From 2008 to 2018,the soil erosion control in 4 cities and 19 counties along the Yellow River in Shanxi Province showed an overall increasing trend, and the control effect was significant. However,in some years, the area of soil erosion control decreased. For example, from 2011 to 2012,the area of soil erosion control in the 4cities along the Yellow River decreased by 244,600 hectares;among the 19 counties along the Yellow River, except for Pianguan County,Ji County, and Pinglu County In addition, the remaining 16 counties all decreased, with a total decrease of 128,100 hectares.(2)Driving factors for the control of soil erosion in the Shanxi section of the Yellow River: From 2008 to 2018,the changes in the control of soil erosion in the Shanxi section of the Yellow River are closely related to the comprehensive control measures in the first-level indicators, the social economy, and the ecological environment. From 2011 to 2012,the reduction of soil erosion control area may be affected by socio-economic and comprehensive control measures, including capital investment and grass planting measures that need to be strengthened.(3)Problems and suggestions in the process of soil erosion control in the Shanxi section of the Yellow River: The main problems currently existing are manifested in the aspects of capital investment, grass planting measures, and supervision.Recommendations: broaden investment channels, improve investment mechanisms, and increase investment;improve policies, adapt measures to local conditions, and do a good job of publicity;improve supervision, strengthen linkages, and increase the investigation and punishment of illegal cases;strengthen the relevant practices of the ecological compensation mechanism for soil erosion.
