The experiment was conducted to study the effects on milking performance and udder health between different type of liner.Around 1,200 cows were arranged to each of the group.The two groups of cows were milked in two different milking parlors,the control group were milked in a 2*32/64 parlor with rubber liner,and trial group were milked in a 2*32/64 parlor with silicone liner.Teats of 2,426 cows were measured,the result shows 92.7%of the teats match the given silicone liner.After 5 months trial,the conclusions are:the silicone liners cannot remarkable increase milk yield(29.99 vs 30.35),despite of the average number is not significant,but the trend shows the yield stability of trial group is much better than the control group.The periodic deduction extent with lactation trend of trial group significantly slower than control group as well.No evidences in this trial shows silicone liner can improve milk component like milk fat,milk protein.In this trial,milk fat:3.81%vs 3.800%;milk protein:3.245%vs 3.249%).The average flow is one of the key criteria for parlor efficiency,and the data is 2.86 vs 3.10.the trial found:milk flow decreased periodically with the replacement of rubber liner and the use time.Which means during a replacement period,the milk flow decreased with time going,and the milk flow significantly higher than during the end of the service period and changes periodically.Life span of silicone liner is double of rubber liner,but silicone liners were not replaced during the entire 5 months trial and the rubber liners changed 3 times according to recommendation.Milk flow of control group changes periodically with the change of liner,but the flow of silicone group kept more stable and higher than the group of rubber liner(2.86 vs 3.10).the silicone liner can improve SCC(-30.9K)than group of rubber liner.On the comparison of slipping:thanks to a smaller but matching more than 92%teats,the slipping percentage decreased obviously after change to silicone liners from average 7.3%decreased to 4.5%.according to the volume of stripping yield after detaching,with the detach flow reduction 100 gram per minute of silicone group from 800 grams per minute to 700 grams per minute,to achieve similar stripping yield(261.8 vs 298.3).on the comparison of deformation,silicone liner kept overwhelming superiority(143 vs 2).The cleaning efficiency also very similar(4.41 vs 4.35),this kept the same footprint of TBC.The trial also found the silicone liners didn’t show remarkable improvement on mastitis rate,it proved again there are too many factors to mastitis rate,change only one factor could not change much to mastitis,especially with this type of farms,in which mastitis rate is relevantly high(average higher than 5.7%).According to the principle of similar age,lactation,milk yield,DIM,110 cows were randomly picked from each above group to evaluate teat end condition,:comparing to the beginning of the trial,the percentage of score 1 and 2 improved from 74.1% to 77.3% for rubber group,the result of silicone group is from 74.1%to 91%,it shows a remarkable improvement.8 cows were randomly picked from each group based on similar age,lactation,milk yield and DIM,blood samples were taken to analyze LDH,CPK,TP,ALB and GLB.The result shows no significant diversity between-group.It also echoed to the result of mastitis comparison. |
