The purpose of this experiment was to study the nutritional value of corn husk and soybean hulls and their feasibility as roughage feed for mutton sheep, and to feed fattening sheep with different proportions of corn husk and soybean hulls,to study the effects of corn husk and soybean hulls on growth performance, digestion and metabolism of nutrients and rumen metabolism in fattening sheep.Corn husk, soybean hulls and sunflower seed hulls were used to determine the nutrient composition of the protein and carbohydrate components using CNCPS,the NRC model estimated the digestible nutrients and energy supply, the nylon bag method was used to determine the rumen degradation parameters, systematic analysis of the nutritional value of three by-products.A total of 36 Doper × Small Tail Han sheep hybrid male lambs with similar age(120±11 d)and body weight(22.2±0.92 kg)were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 12 in each group.Lambs were randomly allocated to one of three diets: 1)0% corn husk + 0% soybean hulls(control group);2)9% corn husk + 9% soybean hulls(18MIX);3)17% corn husk + 17% soybean hulls(34MIX).The experiment was conducted over 85 d,with the first 15 d for adaptation. The results showed that the CP content in soybean hulls was the highest, the proportion of SCP and NPN in corn husk was the highest(P<0.05).The contents of PA and CB2 in corn husk were the highest(P<0.05).The contents of PB1 and CA in soybean hulls were the highest(P<0.05).The contents of td NFC and td CP of soybean hulls were the highest, and the td NDF content of corn husk was the highest(P<0.05).Soybean hull DM and NDF had the highest effective degradation rate, while corn husk CP had the highest effective degradation rate(P<0.05).The average daily gain for 34 MIX and 18 MIX were greater than control group(P<0.05).The nitrogen intake of the 34 MIX group was significantly higher than that of the control and 18 MIX group(P<0.05),and the fecal nitrogen and total excretion nitrogen were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05),The digestible nitrogen and deposited nitrogen tented increased, but the difference among three groups was not significant(P>0.05).34 MIX group had the highest total digestibility and metabolic rate(P<0.05).The MCP yield for 34 MIX was significantly higher than the control group(P <0.05),with no difference between 18 MIX and 34MIX(P>0.05).The supply of MP of the 34 MIX group were significantly higher than those of the 18 MIX and control group(P<0.05).The concentrations of acetic acid and TVFA in the 34 MIX group were significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05),The concentration of Hydroxymethyl cellulose and Xylanase in rumen fluid of the 18 MIX and 34 MIX groups were significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).The relative number of R.albus in the 34 MIX group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).R.flavefaciens,F.succinogenes and B.fibrisolvens in the 18 MIX and 34 MIX groups were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05).Therefore,it was concluded that: corn husk and soybean hulls have high content of available fiber, which are good fiber feed for ruminants.Replacing part of the corn and corn straws in the diet of fattening sheep with corn husk and soybean hulls can significantly increase the daily gain feed efficiency and nutrient digestibility, increase microbial protein yield and metabolism protein supply, and improve rumen metabolism of fattening lambs. In the condition of this experiment, the combination of corn husk and soybean hulls reached 34% has better effects.
