| Cultivating healthy forests is an effective way to achieve sustainable forest management and is a new concept for forest resource management.Phoebe bournei is a national level II key protected wild plant,belonging to rare and endangered species.The paper takes natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest in Jiangxi Province as research objects.It constructs the health assessment index system by collecting data through standard surveys and combining the growth characteristics with the management objectives of the natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest,based on the analysis of forest health connotation and forest management theories etc.Then,it evaluates the health status and proposes the corresponding management countermeasures according to the assessment results,which provides reference for sustainable management and protection of natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest.The main findings and conclusions are as follows:(1)Through the analysis of the present situation of natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest,it is determined that the management objective is to cultivate stratified,iso-aged,mixed forest stands,with more developed shrub,herb layers and higher species diversity and productivity.Such structure has high stability,anti-interference and vitality,and is an ideal structure for healthy natural secondary forests.(2)Using the methods of frequency statistics,theoretical analysis and expert consultation,the health assessment index system of natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest is constructed.The system covers a total of 16 indicators in four aspects: vitality,structure,stability and sustainability,clarifies connotation and calculation methods of each indicator,and determines the weight of each indicator by the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP method).(3)The results of health assessment of natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest showed that the number of healthy,sub-healthy,medium-healthy and unhealthy standard sites are 4,18,7,and 1,respectively,accounting for 13.33%,60.00%,23.33 % and 3.33% of the total standard land,respectively.In general,the natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest is sub-healthy.(4)Combined with the results of standard forest health assessment,the main management measures are proposed from the aspects of improving stand vigor,optimizing stand structure,enhancing stand stability,maintaining stand sustainability,strengthening propaganda for healthy management and pay attention to management,protection and monitoring for natural secondary Phoebe bournei forest. |
