The Impact Of Trade Network Position Of Import Sources Of International Products On Firm’s TFP ——Based On Electric Appliances And Instrument Manufacturing

The importance of trade in intermediate goods has gradually increased,China’s imports of intermediate goods account for more than 70% of all imports,and trade in intermediate goods has become an important force in transforming and upgrading China’s manufacturing industry and promoting sustained economic growth.As an important indicator of a country’s industrial development level,electrical industry plays a fundamental role in enhancing the industrial economy and improving the quality of life of a country’s citizens,but at present,the high-end spare parts of this industry are largely dependent on imports,and it is difficult to realize localization in the short term.Therefore,based on the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry,it has practical significance to study the effect of the trade network status of international products on TFP.This paper adopts a combination of theoretical and empirical approaches to study the impact of the trade network status of the origin of intermediate imports on the total factor productivity of enterprises.On the theoretical side,based on the literature review,it is analyzed that the network status of intermediate goods import sources mainly affects the TFP by the technology spillover effect and the quality improvement effect.On the empirical side,first of all we calculate the weighted trade network status and total factor productivity of enterprises’ source of intermediate goods imports respectively;secondly,based on the measured panel data we study the relationship between them;as for endogeneity we use the intermediate goods tariff at the enterprise level as an instrumental variable;finally,we analyze the relationship between intermediate goods imports and TFP,trade type and location.Finally,we analyze the differential impact of changes in the status of trade networks at the source of intermediate goods imports on firms’ TFP by differentiating the samples.The empirical shows that the improvement of the weighted trade network status of the import source of enterprises helps to enhance the TFP of enterprises;and the improvement of the weighted trade network status of the import source of enterprises promotes the TFP of foreign enterprises,export enterprises,and enterprises in the eastern region more significantly.Therefore,in order to improve the TFP,importing enterprises should continuously adjust the source structure of imports and also continuously increase R＆D investment to improve their own innovation ability to enhance the TFP through the technology spillover effect of imported intermediate goods;and the government should actively promote trade liberalization to provide a relaxed and convenient environment for domestic importing enterprises.In addition,setting up incentive mechanisms maybe a good idea for government,with which government can promote trade liberalization to provide a relaxed and convenient environment for domestic importers.
