Research On The Impact Of R＆D Investment In The Power Battery Industry On Corporate Performance ——Taking CATL As An Example

At present,due to the severe form of ecological environment and the shortage of resources brought about by the excessive exploitation of traditional energy,New energy vehicles are slowly becoming a new direction for the future development of the world auto industry.Since 2009,my country has gradually taken the development trend of energy conservation and environmental protection industry as a new development strategy,and issued a series of support development strategies and current government subsidies.As the core driving force of new energy vehicles,power batteries have developed rapidly along with the outlet of the new energy automobile industry.Nowadays,thanks to the support of national strategy and the adherence to independent research and development,China’s power battery installed capacity has surpassed Japan and South Korea and other countries,ranking first in the world.Since2017,with the gradual progress and improvement of the field,the financial subsidy is gradually reduced,and the subsidy rate is gradually increased.which has had a greater impact on the power battery industry,and some companies have even experienced operational difficulties,shortage of funds and other issues.In this context,it is particularly important for enterprises to rely on their own core technologies to continuously develop.The company’s technological innovation level is not only the main driving force for the long-term development trend of high-tech enterprises,but also the strategic support to ensure that China’s economic development enters a new journey.As a typical high-tech enterprise,CATL has developed into the first in the industry in just a few years with its independent research and development strength,and still has a good development ability in the environment of subsidy regression and has set up a good model.Therefore,the research on the impact of R＆D on enterprise performance in the CATL era is carried out,its successful experience in the field of R＆D is summarized,and the mechanism and effect of R＆D investment on enterprise performance are clarified,so as to provide reference for other enterprises,which has great research value.This paper mainly uses the literature research method,case study method,quantitative analysis method and comparative analysis method,and summarizes the basic theoretical research and literature on R＆D investment,enterprise performance and related issues at home and abroad,and constructs the basic writing ideas and framework of the article.Based on the basic theory of technological innovation,the basic theory of core competitive advantage,the theory of commodity life cycle,the basic theory of output rate and the basic theory of information transmission,the development process of the power battery industry is sorted out,the characteristics of the power battery industry are summarized,and the current situation of R＆D and performance of the power battery industry is summarized,laying the foundation for the subsequent analysis.Through the vertical and horizontal directions,the R＆D situation of CATL in 2017-2020 is compared and analyzed,and the utility of R＆D on both financial performance and non-financial performance of enterprises is analyzed in a specific way.Through research and analysis,it can be seen that the product research and development of CATL has high technical standards,excellent research and development departments,strong encouragement of excellent product research and development talents,large research investment,and dominant independent R＆D;from a long-term perspective,the continuous adherence of enterprises to the importance of R＆D investment has a positive impact on enterprise performance.Based on this,relevant suggestions are put forward to the power battery industry: the new energy power battery industry should increase R＆D investment,adhere to continuous innovation;enterprise development conforms to the national industrial development orientation,combines the industry form and policy tilt direction with the enterprise development plan,and closely follows the national industrial development direction for technological innovation;at the same time,pays attention to the introduction and training of R＆D talents,establishes a long-term and effective employee incentive mechanism,consolidates the innovation foundation,enhances the core competitiveness of the enterprise,and realizes the healthy and sustainable development of the company and even the entire industry.
