Abstract/Summary:
In the engineering of reinforced soil with natural plant, the degradability of natural plants makes them prone to corrosion in the complex environment of civil engineering, which will reduce their effect of reinforcement and even deteriorate the engineering properties of reinforced soil. Therefore,it is particularly important to conduct corrosion prevention on natural materials. In this paper,Moso bamboo slices were used as natural reinforcement, epoxy resin was used as an anti-corrosive coating for bamboo slices and as a curing agent for silty clay.Firstly,by simulating the acid and alkali environment of soil in nature, the variation of mass loss rate and the tensile properties of bamboo slices after corrosion, and whether epoxy resin could effectively protect bamboo slices from corrosion were studied.Secondly, the surface of bamboo slices were modified by heat treatment, alkali treatment, silane agent A-174 coupling, and acetylation, the influence of surface modifications on the tensile properties of bamboo slices, and the effect on improving the interfacial adhesion between the surface of bamboo slices and epoxy resin were studied.Thirdly, the mechanical properties of silty clay were enhanced by epoxy resin used as enhanced, and direct shear tests were conducted on soil samples cured with different ratios of epoxy resin to water. Finally, epoxy resin and bamboo slices were combined to strengthen the silty clay, and the unconfined compressive tests were carried out.The main conclusions were as follows:(1)The corrosion resistance of bamboo slice was poor, and serious corrosion occurred in acid and alkali environment, which affected its tensile mechanical properties. With the extension of soaking time or the increase of solution p H,the mass loss rate of bamboo slices increased, and the ultimate tension decreased gradually.Coating with epoxy resin on the surface of bamboo slices could effectively protect them from corrosion.(2)The interfacial adhesion between bamboo slices and epoxy resin was poor, and the tensile strength of composite material formed by coating epoxy resin on the surface of bamboo slices was not improved.Surface modifications reduced the tensile strength of the bamboo slices, but improved the interfacial compatibility with epoxy resin by reducing the hydrophilicity and hygroscopicity of the bamboo slices, which increased the mechanical properties of the composite.Acetylation was the most effective method in this paper.(3)When epoxy resin was used as curing agent of silty clay, the polymer particles generated by the polymerization connected the soil particles and reduced the voids between them, thus effectively improved the mechanical properties of clay, and the degree of improvement was related to the ratio of epoxy resin to water.3:2 was selected as the optimal ratio of epoxy resin to water to improve the strength of clay in this paper.(4)Epoxy resin effectively restrained lateral deformation and crack development of soil and maintained its integrity.Compared with the single use of epoxy resin or bamboo slices, the composite use of the two can greatly improve the compressive strength of clay, and when bamboo slices were surface modified, the composition reinforcement effect was better.
