The complex tire pattern is closely related to the performance of tire braking,cornering,and noise.Experimental methods can be used to study the influence of pattern geometric characteristics on important performance of tires,but it requires a lot of manpower and material resources.Therefore,it has important engineering value to carry out finite element simulation analysis of pattern tires with complex geometric characteristics.The traditional method to establish a finite element model of a complex pattern tire requires more simplification of pattern geometry,and there are problems such as low meshing efficiency and difficulty in guaranteeing mesh quality,which is not conducive to obtaining accurate results.This paper takes the complex pattern of a radial tire as the research object,and aims to develop a finite element modeling platform for complex pattern tires to efficiently establish a variable-pitch complex pattern tire finite element model,while ensuring that the model has a high-quality mesh.First,a high-efficiency finite element modeling method for tires with variable-pitch complex patterns is proposed and the corresponding softwares are developed.Aiming at the difficulty of different normal directions on the outside of the tread contour formed by irregular circular arcs,and the difficulty of directly applying the existing automatic mesh generation algorithm to meshing,the MATLAB axial mapping program is developed based on the mapping algorithm to discretize the tread profile and then flatten it.Build a flat tread body and carry out pattern geometric modeling on the body,then quickly establish the model partition based on the flat structure characteristics and automatically create high-quality meshes.Subsequently,the tread restoration program is developed to restore the pattern model geometry,and the pitch arrangement program is developed for the variable-pitch pattern finite element modeling problem,which automatically arranges the pitches,and generates the finite element model of the tire variable-pitch complex pattern.Then,based on the ABAQUS secondary development interface,a design idea of??combining MATLAB and Python to expand ABAQUS is proposed,and a finite element modeling platform for complex pattern tires is developed in ABAQUS to improve the convenience of tire pattern pre-processing modeling.Write the kernel execution program,and use the RSG dialog box builder to build the platform,integrate the programs developed in this paper into the complex pattern tire finite element modeling platform,and realize the parameters transfer and results transfer between the ABAQUS graphical user interface and the MATLAB programs.Finally,carry out the finite element simulation analysis and evaluation of the radial tire with complex pattern studied in this paper.Using the finite element mesh of the tire pattern obtained by the modeling platform,a finite element model of the complex pattern tire is established.The simulation analysis of tire static stiffness and dry road braking performance are carried out.The simulation results are in good agreement with the corresponding test results.In summary,the modeling platform developed in this paper significantly improves the modeling efficiency of the finite element model of complex pattern tires and improves the product development capabilities of tire companies.
