With the development of the economy and the rapid growth of the number of motor vehicles,tires,as the main consumables of automobiles,must be replaced after a period of use,which will produce a large amount of waste tires.Used tires are industrial hazardous solid wastes,and if they are not properly disposed of,they will pollute the environment.One of the most effective ways to use waste tires at present is to use them for paving asphalt pavements.By treating waste tires in a certain way,they can be used to modify asphalt or use them as pavement materials.In this paper,a detailed study of the conditions required for used tires as pavement materials,the influence on the composition of the original mixture,and the advantages and disadvantages of using it to mix asphalt mixtures are carried out,and the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The optimal amount of asphalt used in rubber granular asphalt mixture is greater than that of ordinary asphalt mixture.(2)The road performance test of asphalt mixtures with different rubber particle content(1%,2%,3%)found that compared with ordinary asphalt mixtures,the dynamic stability of rubber particle asphalt mixtures increased by 7.1%,15.3%,26.7%;the maximum flexural strain increased by 8%,15%,and 26% respectively;the stability of immersion residue was reduced by 8%,13%,and 21% respectively;the freeze-thaw splitting strength ratio was reduced by 12%,19%,and 27%,respectively.Rubber granular asphalt mixture has better high temperature stability and low temperature crack resistance,but its water stability is poor.(3)Through experiments,it is found that the rubber granular asphalt mixture will undergo greater rebound deformation after molding.In view of this situation,the compaction characteristics of the rubber granular asphalt mixture were studied,and it was found that the new molding method(secondary molding)can reduce the problem of large deformation of the mixture after compaction caused by the addition of rubber particles,make the test piece more encrypted.It was also found that compared with the original molding method,the new molding method can increase the residual stability of AC-1 type by 5%,AC-2 type by 8%,and AC-3 type by 12%.;in terms of splitting strength ratio,it can increase the AC-1 type by 3%,the AC-2 type by 7%,and the AC-3 type by 14%.(4)The addition of a high-viscosity modifier can improve the water stability and anti-scattering properties of the rubber granular asphalt mixture,as well as the overall strength and wear resistance of the mixture.Through the flying test with increasing the number of rotations,it is found that the ordinary asphalt mixture mainly exhibits abrasion and peeling during the entire test process.Asphalt mixture specimens with1%,2%,and 3% rubber particles produced loose and peeled off during the entire flying test.The rubber particle asphalt mixture specimens using high-viscosity modified asphalt belonged to abrasion and peeling during the whole flying test.
