Based on the theory of streamline curvature method, this paper derives the main control equation suitable for absolute coordinates, and develops a tube flow calculation method suitable for predicting the overall performance of multi-stage axial compressors, develops a set of calculation programs with wide application range, strong stability and high precision by Fortran95 language.According to a large number of classic incidence models, deviation models, and loss models published in public literatures, this article first explored a set of more practical model combinations by appropriately combining these models, and selected five different types of axial flow compressors to predict their overall performance. The number of stages ranges from two to ten,and the design point pressure ratio ranges from 1.357 to 23,including subsonic and transonic blade types. The calculation results show that the overall error is controlled at about10%.The calculation results show that this method is well at predicting the overall performance of these compressors.Secondly, the influence of viscosity on the flow field of the axial compressor is also studied based on this method. The effect of viscosity is mainly divided into two parts: the effect of spanwise mixing and the effect of end wall boundary layer. The spanwise mixing model was verified using NASA two-stage transonic compressor;Appropriate experiments and design point examples were used to verify the end wall blockage boundary layer, comparing the calculation of the outlet blocking coefficient of the two multi-stage axial compressors with the design point, the absolute error is controlled at about 2.5%,which proved that the applied boundary layer model can effectively predict blocking factor. Finally,in order to reduce the overall performance prediction bias,a calibration method for overall performance calculation was explored, and a two-stage transonic compressor was selected to prove the feasibility of the calibration method. In summary, the overall performance prediction of the multi-stage axial compressor developed in this paper helps shorten the design period and reduce the risk of the design process. At the same time,it can be used to guide the actual operation of the compressor working unit to avoid dangerous conditions such as surge. The engineering significance is evident.
