Confined masonry structures still exist in a large number of urban buildings in China,but due to the lack of scientific understanding of earthquakes,no seismic structural measures have been taken in most of the masonry structures built at that time.The seismic damage degree of masonry structures without seismic structural measures can be reduced obviously by reasonable seismic reinforcement technology so that significant loss of life and property can be largely avoided.In this paper,the finite element software,ABAQUS,is employed to understand the main influencing factors of the restrained masonry structure under three kinds of reinforcement technology,and then the reasonable range of value for each factor to realize the ideal failure mode is obtained,which can provide reference for the reinforcement design of masonry structure in China.This paper has mainly completed the following three aspects of work:1.This paper summarises the typical earthquake disasters of masonry structure in recent years,determines the influencing factors of seismic performance of masonry structure,and puts forward a variety of new seismic reinforcement technologies to improve the failure mode and seismic performance of masonry structure.2.The finite element method is applied to simulate the experiments of related researches,and the validity and rationality of the finite element method are verified through comparison with the test results.On this basis,the finite element models of the walls of the restrained masonry structures with different reinforcement technologies are established and then compared with the test results.It is shown from the results that the proposed reinforcement technology can achieve the ideal failure mode of the restrained masonry structure and verify the effectiveness of the reinforcement technologies.3.The nonlinear models of walls with different reinforcement technologies are established to investigate the influences of reinforcement diameter,slotting depth and wall width on the failure mode and seismic performance of walls with these technologies,and then the reasonable range of value for each factor to realize the ideal failure mode is obtained.4.Several different models of confined masonry structures with different reinforcement technologies are developed to examine the influences of reinforcement diameter,slotting depth and wall width on the failure mode and seismic performance of confined masonry structures.It is further verified that the values of reinforcement diameter,slotting depth and wall width with different reinforcement technologies in the wall model are reasonable,which can provide certain support for the reinforcement design of masonry structures.
