Under the new development pattern of China’s construction with domestic big circulation as the main body and domestic and international double circulation promoting each other,the improvement of high-speed rail service supply level will help speed up the transformation of China’s region from factor-driven to innovation-driven.General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in the party’s 19 th congress report that "innovation is the first driving force to lead development".As the head of the five new development concepts,innovation is at the core of China’s overall modernization drive.China is more actively integrating into the global innovation network and building an innovative country.High-speed rail has gradually become the main mode of transportation for China’s regional ties.The improvement of high-speed rail network is reshaping China’s regional economic pattern,including regional innovation pattern.Innovation cooperation is an important way to enhance the regional innovation capability.This paper,from the perspective of high-speed rail service supply,examines its impact on China’s regional innovation cooperation and its mechanism,which has important practical significance for China to implement innovation-driven strategy and promote regional coordinated development.With the help of mechanism analysis,social network analysis,statistical analysis and measurement test,this paper studies the impact of high-speed rail service supply on China’s regional innovation cooperation at the provincial level.Firstly,the paper explains theoretically the impact and mechanism of high-speed rail service supply on regional innovation cooperation.Secondly,Python is used to obtain the number of provincial papers in the core collection of Web of Science,and the structural characteristics of regional innovation cooperation network are constructed and analyzed.Then,based on the frequency of high-speed rail traffic and the number of papers and patents,the paper examines the impact of high-speed rail service supply on regional innovation cooperation from 2008 to 2018.Then,the paper examines the mechanism of the impact of high-speed rail service supply on regional innovation cooperation from the aspects of factor flow,industrial structure,network structure and spatial spillover.Finally,some suggestions are put forward to optimize the supply of high-speed rail services and promote regional innovation cooperation.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)On the basis of clarifying the concepts of high-speed rail service supply and regional innovation cooperation,the theoretical mechanism that high-speed rail service supply affects regional innovation cooperation is mainly explained from the aspects of factor flow,industrial structure upgrading,network structure optimization and space overflow.First,high-speed rail service improves regional innovation links and promotes regional innovation cooperation by accelerating the flow and concentration of talents,capital and other elements;Second,high-speed rail services promote technology diffusion by expanding industrial extension space in developed regions,and promote industrial upgrading by accelerating industrial undertaking,industrial cultivation and transformation of innovation achievements in backward regions,so as to increase industrial innovation demand and drive innovation cooperation;Third,the high-speed rail service network deepens the regional innovation cooperation network,and the multi-directional and complicated innovation cooperation network enhances the regional innovation cooperation level;Fourthly,the opening of high-speed rail,innovation investment and innovation level in the surrounding areas affect local innovation cooperation through spatial spillover.Positive spillover is beneficial to local innovation cooperation while negative spillover is not.(2)The analysis of the spatio-temporal evolution of regional innovation cooperation network shows that the structure of inter-provincial innovation cooperation network is generally complicated and balanced.From 2008 to 2018,the overall network density continued to increase.The degree centrality of points and the betweenness centrality showed the regional characteristics.The degree centrality showed the order from high to low in the east,middle and west.The betweenness centrality showed that Beijing and Guangdong in the east and Shaanxi and Sichuan in the west were important role as "bridges" for innovation cooperation.The western provinces and individual provinces in the middle were located on the edge of the network.The innovation cooperation in the central and western regions grew faster than that in some eastern provinces.Cohesive subgroup analysis showed that geographical distance affected regional innovation cooperation.(3)The measurement results show that the high-speed rail service supply significantly improves the level of regional innovation cooperation,regardless of the number of paper cooperation or patent cooperation as the regional innovation cooperation agent variable.The regional heterogeneity test shows that the high-speed rail service supply has the greatest effect on innovation cooperation in the eastern region,followed by the central region and the western region.The heterogeneity test of provincial resource dependence shows that the high-speed rail service supply has the greatest effect on innovation and cooperation promotion in the high resource dependence group,followed by the medium resource dependence group and the low resource dependence group.The intermediate effect test shows that the supply of high-speed rail services can improve the level of regional innovation and cooperation by accelerating the flow of factors,promoting the upgrading of industrial structure and optimizing the network structure.The spatial spillover effect test shows that the supply of high-speed rail services in neighboring regions is helpful to improve the level of innovation cooperation in this region.(4)The need to optimize high-speed rail services and promote regional innovation and cooperation in China: continue to push forward the construction of China’s high-speed rail in line with local conditions and promote coordinated regional development and innovation and cooperation;rely on the improvement of high-speed rail services,accelerate the flow of factors,promote the upgrading of industrial structure,optimize the innovation network structure,and give full play to the leading role of spatial spillover effect in regional innovation cooperation;speed up the supply of high-speed rail services and enhance the innovation capability of resource-dependent regions;scientifically evaluate the innovation effect of high-speed rail service supply and take the path of inclusive innovation and cooperation.
