| Over the past few decades,Cross-Border Road Projects(CRPs)captured special attention and contributed significantly to economic growth and poverty alleviation in a region.Under the ―One-belt one-road‖(OBOR)program,numerous cross-border highway projects in different countries are under construction. In particular,China is investing billions of dollars in roads and infrastructure projects in Pakistan driven by China-Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC)under the OBOR subproject. However, these projects are restricted by different factors, which lead to the delay of the operations and completion. Therefore,it is essential to evaluate the influencing critical factors for the successful completion of these projects. In this study, critical success factors(CSFs)were initially collected from a large number of existing literature. And then, the CSFs are adjusted and confirmed through the Delphi method. After that, the questionnaire are designed and collected from experts from Pakistan’s industry and academia. The data was analyzed through a novel integrated methodology of integrated interpretation structure modeling(ISM)and Matriced ?impacts cro multiplication applique‘ and classment(MICMAC).The results show that CSF can be divided into four categories based on the strength of the driving forces affecting Pakistan‘s cross-border road projects and the independence power among factors,?‘economic and political stability‖,―favorable climate at site‖,―stakeholder management‖,―favorable legal framework‖ and ―practicing ethical standard‖ are the main contributors for the success of the CRPs.These factors require serious consideration and special attention. This study provides a basis for the government and policy makers to formulate and modify cross-border highway projects. In particular, the study will provide assistance to the successful construction of upcoming or ongoing cross-border projects of OBOR and roads under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. |
