The industrial revolution greatly liberated the labor productivity and innovated the people’s thought,which was manifested in the emergence of new building materials research and development and design strategies in the architecture field.The accompanying disciplinary differentiation also made the knowledge system and social division of labor more and more refined,but many factors separated the architectural form and structure into an insurmountable gap.Stepped into the information age,the rise of complexity science and nonlinear philosophy gave rise to the nonlinear trend,computer technology has played a role for this process,and the technical threshold of virtual design and digital construction makes it hard to master,part of designers to show off the abuse or misuse,the nonlinear architectural works good and bad are intermingled,and the nonlinear is to accelerate the separation of form and structure as an accomplice.In order to deal with the design dilemma of the lack of connotation of nonlinear architecture and the disconnection between architectural form and structure,the author selects the generated design and the structural skin as the basis for discussion.The former advocates the development of iterative and easily modified design rules,while the latter advocates the active combination of architectural form and structure.On the analysis of the architectural form of nonlinear digital era is a irreversible trend,the author advocates to actively guide,rather than blindly to reject or blindly follow suit,epidermal structure of nonlinear structure design strategy was put forward,and cited a typical architecture examples as evidence,and then through the author’s design practice for argumentation and summary of this strategy.The first chapter is the basis of writing,which expounds the origin,purpose,research trends and writing framework of the thesis.The second chapter briefly introduces the basic concepts and cases of generative design and structural skin.The third chapter analyzes the reasons why the contemporary architectural forms tend to be nonlinear from the aspects of human’s natural feelings,the phenomena of complexity science,the nonlinear philosophy and the boosting effect of computer.In fourth chapter,the typical nonlinear design theories and methods,such as fractal,minimal surface and pleat,are introduced briefly.The fifth chapter is the design demonstration.The arch shell with both shape and force is selected as the design prototype,the triangle fractal algorithm is compiled under GHPython platform as the plane generating logic,and the nonlinear triangular arch shell is generated and optimized by Kangaroo dynamic simulation software.With the help of rigorous computer algorithms and convenient mechanical simulation mechanism,it is intended to provide a technical path for promoting the design of generated and nonlinear structure skin to become a universal and scientific design strategy as soon as possible.
