Under the specific regional environment, the traditional residences, after a long period of confrontation, adaptation and adjustment, naturally summed up a set of adaptive construction experience or model. While creating a relatively livable spatial environment, they show strong regional characteristics. The construction of traditional residences is affected by the constraints of economi, technological conditions and cultural concepts. The way of adapting to the environment is often passive and low-tech.Compared with the current application of active and high-tech applications in some green buildings, the passive,low-tech construction experience of the traditional residences according to local conditions and the inherent ecological thoughts are worthy of modern architect learning and reference. At the same time, traditional residences have experienced a large number of quality problems under long-term climate confrontation, and they are generally facing the status quo of modern renewal. In addition, under the background of today’s global architectural culture is gradually the same, inheriting regional culture is the responsibility and requirement given to every architect by the times. So,it is urgent to deeply explore and summarize the green construction experience of traditional residences and explore their modern translation application strategies.Located in southwest China,Guizhou has complex terrain, typical climate, rich resources, and diverse cultures.Under such an intricate environment, the traditional residential architectures are typical and of great research value.Supported by the special project "Green Building Model and Technology System of Multi-Ethnic Areas in Southwest China" under the national key research program "Green Building Model and Technology System in Western Region Based on Diversification",the article takes the traditional dwellings in Southeast Guizhou as research objects, using literature research, field investigation,on-site measurement, performance theory simulation and other research methods.Through relevant theoretical research, the natural ecological ideology, architectural form, characteristics of green construction experiences are summarised;then through a large number of field investigations, mapping, testing and interviews,a horizontal comparative analysis of each case was conducted to summarize the green construction experience or model of local traditional residences,as follows:1.Overall layout: Discuss the tendency of traditional residences to be “back to the mountains”,flat, and exposed to the sun under the influence of environmental factors;the overall layout model that conforms to the topographic contours;the single form and its combination that adapt to different topography and family population.2.Space organization: Discuss the vertical development mode of space under the limitation of land use,the role of center and sequence organization of core space, the core expansion mode to adapt to terrain and demand, and the wisdom of using space to adjust the climate over time.3.Space form: The form of a high-rise space with enhanced ventilation effect, the shape of a concave space with wind guide effect, and the shape of the top climate buffer space with ventilation and heat insulation effect are discussed.4.Partial construction practices: Discuss the slope roof form with large slopes, deep eaves, and appropriate concave warpage;wooden and stone wall systems that follow structural levels and masonry techniques;overhead, hanging feet, platform and comprehensive terrain adaptation strategies;Land-saving,rain-proof,space-raising,etc.Combining with modern needs,it is pointed out that the modern translation application of the green construction experience of traditional residences should follow the six principles of inheritance, timely, diversified, economic, breakthrough, and suitable location. On this basis, the following translation application strategies are proposed:1.Overall layout: Refinement of Elements,Continuation of Texture,Echo of Form,Abstract Reconstruction.2.Spatial organization: Function Replacement,Multi-Dimensional Reorganization,Space-Time Transplantation.3.Spatial form: Scale Reduction,Scale Expansion,Attribute Reconstruction.4.Local practices and materials: Numerical Reference,Principle Evolution,Material Reproduction,Technology Improvement,Material Combination,Material Replacement.Based on the proposed strategies, taking the "Yishanhai · Shanju" in Guizhou as an example,on the basis of fully analyzing its current problems and deficiencies, the corresponding optimized design strategies is proposed from the four levels of overall layout, spatial organization, spatial form and enclosure structure.
