Exploitation in arctic area is increasing fast in recent years because of the abundant natural resources and the economic value of arctic routes.As a result,ice-going ships are becoming the focus in the field of naval architecture and ocean engineering.How to predict the ice loads from the ship-ice collision rapidly and accurately is one of the most important problems that researchers should solve.This thesis mainly deals with the calculation method of ice loads in the ship-ice collision.Based on the energy method,this thesis develops a calculation method and theory of local ice loads considering structural deformation energy with the analytical methods.Then the important factors of the calculation method of ice loads and application of this method in the ship design are researched with different engineering examples.The main content of this thesis is listed as follows:1.The physical and mechanical properties of sea ice and the categories of ice loads are introduced because of the impact on the ice loads.The ice load scenario cases and the pressure-area relationships in the interaction area between ships and ice based on the reality are also introduced and the research scopes of the thesis are presented.2.Structural deformation energy is evaluated in three typical positions of collision between ice and side grillage with the analytical method of plastic mechanics.Energy method considering structural deformation energy is presented after current energy method evaluating ice loads is extended based on that.Then the maximum ice loads and loads-time curves are presented when ships strike finite ice with various contact geometries in three typical positions of side grillage by MATLAB programs.The method evaluates local ice loads of ice-going ships rapidly and accurately and provides new tools for the primary design of ice-going ships.3.Based on real collision scenarios and theory of the calculation method of ice loads considering structural deformation energy,the speeds of an ice-going ship,thicknesses of ice edges,shapes of ice edges and shipice collision points are chosen to analyze the impact of main factors of ship and ice with the calculation method of ice loads.4.To develop the application of the method this thesis presented when designing ice-going ships,an ice-going LNG ship is chosen to calculate the curves of ice loads-displacement under different design methods of side grillages with the calculation method of ice loads,and then the properties of ice-resistance of different design methods are analyzed. |
