In this paper,n-Propyltrichlorosilane and ortho-xylene were used as modifiers and solvents respectively,and surface grafting through was used to hydrophobically modify PET ion track-etched membranes.The effects of pore size,modifier concentration and modification time on the hydrophobic effect of ion track-etched membranes were investigated.After comparing the surface properties and oil-water separation ability of the modified and unmodified ion track-etched membranes,the hydrophobic stability of the modified ion track-etched membranes was tested.The dichloromethane emulsion was used as the filtered oil-water mixture.The experiment showed that the modified ion track-etched membrane could separate water-oil mixture effectively.The selected four kinds of PET ion track-etched membranes(220 nm,450 nm,1 μm,2 μm)could achieve the best effect of hydrophobic modification at room temperature when the concentration of modifier was 80 mm and the modification time was 24 h.Under these conditions,the water contact angles of the four hydrophobic PET ion track-etched membranes were above 130 °,and each surface energy calculated by Fowkes model was less than 6 m N/m.In the experiment of water-oil separation,the hydrophobic PET ion track-etched membranes showed ability of water retention,and the oil flux increased significantly.
