Cats,an animal throughout the long history of human development,have a close relationship with humans.Cats were first domesticated to catch mice,and later they were often kept as pets in homes.Because of its elegant demeanor,light body and full of mystery,the cat theme appears in the works of many artists at home and abroad,and at the same time endows it with special cultural meaning.The main body of this thesis is divided into three parts.The first part mainly discusses the historical development of cats and cat culture.By analyzing the representative works of ancient and modern cats at home and abroad,the external image and creative characteristics of cats in the works are deeply analyzed,and the development of cat culture and art at home and abroad is expounded.evolution process.The second part,through the case analysis of ancient and modern Chinese and foreign cat-themed ceramic art works,discusses the expression and decorative techniques of cat-themed ceramic works in different eras,and analyzes the cultural connotation it contains.The third part is the author’s thinking and practice process in the creation process of cat theme ceramic decoration design based on the analysis and research of the former.The blue-and-white porcelain plate series of "Pictures of Cat Breeders" and the "Yingying" ceramic flower ware series are re-created by depicting the cat’s demeanor,living habits and lifestyle,combined with ingenious composition,and the use of high-temperature color glaze,blue-and-white and other decorative techniques Perform creative performance,freeze the cat in life and the moment of interaction between cats and people to express the author’s sincere feelings for cats and understanding of cat culture in contemporary art creation.
