Abstract/Summary:
Up to now,people have carried out a lot of research on hydrogel particles,and different kinds of polymer hydrogel particles(alginate,chitosan,gelatin,polyacrylic acid)can be prepared by different methods(template method,microfluidic method,extrusion drop method),these hydrogel particles have been widely used in cell culture,real-time diagnosis,drug release,catalytic load,dye adsorption,etc.However,these hydrogel particles are all single spherical particles,and the mass transfer capacity of spherical particles decreases from surface to center,which may be unfavorable in some applications.Therefore,it is of great significance to strengthen the study of non-spherical hydrogel particles.Vortex ring derived hydrogel particles are a new type of non-spherical hydrogel particles,but the existing vortex ring derived hydrogel particles are prepared by dropping polyelectrolyte solution into the counter-ion coagulation bath,which makes the selection of materials limited.The preparation of vortex ring hydrogel particles by non-polyelectrolyte polymer has not been reported yet.Based on this,this paper imitates the process of vortex-ring change in nature,by combining this phenomenon in fluid mechanics with material science,and taking advantage of the characteristic that boric acid polyvinyl alcohol solution can quickly gel under alkaline condition,the traditional spherical and various derivative shapes(red cell,bowl,dish,donut)of polyvinyl alcohol vortex-ring derived hydrogel particles were prepared.In addition,novel polyvinyl alcohol vortex-ring derived hydrogel particles with multiple chambers can be prepared by designing the needle structure,and functional components(magnetic nanoparticles,etc.)can be doped into the system to give it more functions.The dynamic borate bond in the hydrogel system also gives the hydrogel particle module the ability to assemble into more complex shapes,one by one.Compared with traditional spherical particles,the donut-vortex-ring derived hydrogel particles has a higher surface area/volume ratio,a shorter diffusion path and better deformability.This work proves that the donut-vortex-ring derived hydrogel particles have unique advantages in the aspects of catalytic loading,which can provide guidance for the design of new catalyst carriers.
