Since the State Council issued the Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control,domestic cities had taken a series of measures to rectify water environmental pollution,such as sewage interception,sediment dredging,aeration,clean water supply,chemical coagulation,and ecological restoration.After those approaches the water environment had been improved.However,the respective achievement does not sustain long and the water quality shows regression.It is urgent to investigate the reasons that results in unsustainable effect on urban water environment and poor long-term control,as urban water environment is highly relevant to social and economic development,ecosystem development and residents’ physical and mental health.This paper focuses on the sustainable improvement of urban water environment.The specific contents are as follows:(1)The paper adopts single factor index method to analyze the status of urban water environment and conducts thorough analysis on the repeating problems of water quality regression.It identifies two main reasons that lead to unsustainable urban water environment:unscientific management of urban drainage facilities and ineffective source control of external water pollution.(2)This paper purposes the specific strategies to strengthen governance of urban water environment through optimizing the mode of drainage facilities management by using franchising and upgrading management methods by intelligent management;to strengthen the control of source pollution by investigating and rectifying the drainage facilities and reducing the pollution of combined sewer overflow.As an economical and effective method,Storm Water Management Model(SWMM)is established to optimize the application of Low Impact Development(LID)facilities and to reinforce the control of urban non-point source pollution.(3)As a study case,a district of Guangzhou is selected to analyze the causes of unstable water quality in the national assessment section and to compare the implementation effect in the region.The paper verifies that the fine management of drainage facilities and the enhancement of external pollution sources control of water environment have the feasibility and positive effect on the sustainable control of water environment,which can serve as a reference for the long-term control of water environment in the same type of cities.
