Bubble columns have been widely used as gas-liquid reactors in chemical engineering for its simple structure, flexible operation, excellent mass and heat transfer performance. In this paper, the numerical simulation method is used to realize the optimization of the geometry size and operating conditions. And finally provide theoretical guidance for the device operation. This paper describes the primary theory and research status of the numerical simulation of gas-liquid two phase flow. Then, using the CFD method under the Ansys 17.2 software platform.Building the corresponding mathematical and geometric model to systematically simulate and analyze the dynamic behaviors of single bubble and gas-liquid two-phase flow in the EO/EC bubble column. The main contents include the following aspects:(1)Using the VOF method to simulate the bubble growth process in the gas distributor, study the CO2bubble dynamic behaviors in the EO/EC liquid. The bubble diameter, aspect ratio and bubble detachment time under different orifice gas velocity, liquid velocity and orifice diameter is emphatically discussed.Finally,one-dimensional mathematical correlation model about bubble detachment time and bubble diameter with boundary conditions is obtained. It can provide vital reference for the design of the gas distributor.(2)Eular-Eular multiphase model is used to study the gas-liquid two-phase flow in the EO/EC bubble column under the base of bubble diameter prediction model above.Gas and liquid are treated as continuous medium and the Tomiyama drag model was selected. The distribution law of gas holdup in the bubble column under different superficial gas velocity, and superficial liquid velocity is mainly discussed. The simulation results can provide the data basis for the operation and optimization of the reactor.
