| Deposition of suspended particles present in the solution in all heat exchange devices that used in industrial sectors caused many problems like decreased the efficiency of process,lessened the production and caused many hazards to industrial environment.In case of heat exchanger or industrial boilers suspended solids start to deposit in tubes and shell side,which caused the increase in pressure and decrease in the life of industrial equipment.In the past years many techniques were implemented to decrease the deposition of suspended particles like preparation of metal alloy,surface engineering technology or surface modification method.The surface engineering or surface modification is one of modern technique to suppress the deposition of suspended particles.Some other techniques that were used to decrease surface free energies are ion implantation method,plasma chemical vapor deposition method and autocatalytic method.In this thesis one of the latest techniques used that is known as electrodeposition technique.Through this technique composite hydrophobic coating was prepared.This technique is easy to perform and it takes less time.This technique can be used at industrial level to prepare hydrophobic coating which has less surface free energy.Attraction between suspended particles and substrate metals decreased due to hydrophobicity and less surface free energy.Composite coating of Ni-Gr-PTFE was prepared through electrodeposition method.In this era researchers are working on graphene and other two-dimensional elements.The reason is due to its unique properties like inertness,having low surface free energy,hydrophobicity,and strongest material ever created,light in weight and good conductor of heat.After electrodeposition of graphene,substrate undergoes dip coating of PTFE.Polytetrafluoroethylene is organic or hydrophobic in nature,which further decreased surface free energy of substrate.This decreased the attraction of suspended particles of solution and substrate,which prevents the substrate from fouling of suspended salts in the solution.Mix wettability surface also prepared and performed fouling test.Different characterization techniques SEM,EDS,AFM,XPS were performed for surface morphology,elemental identification,and roughness and bonding energy respectively.Contact angle and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)test were also performed to understand hydrophobicity and anticorrosion behavior.After preparing composite coating,fouling test was performed to evaluate anti-fouling performance.Through fouling test,it was observed that composite hydrophobic coating worked effectively against salt deposition.Compared to an uncoated surface,the composite hydrophobic coating surface improves and reduces fouling and corrosion by approximately 86-93%. |
